Imagine a cottage overlooking Kielder reservoir with the stunning forest backdrop of Black Belling and Deadwater fell. Imagine watching ospreys skimming the water and catching salmon and trout, while you sip fresh coffee sat on the terrace in the morning sun.
Imagine watching a family of Roe deer emerging from the copse and grazing in the open fields at the base of the Kielder dam.
Imagine an open range fired by wood and coal, crackling and warming your feet as you snuggle up with a winter warmer.
As you step outside the cottage you quickly reach the lakeshore path and your outdoor adventures begin. After a full day of exploring on foot or by bike you relax in a luxury bath and prepare yourself for an evening stargazing in the second largest area of protected night sky in Europe.
For dinner you decide to enjoy a barbecue on our lower terrace overlooking the reservoir, or in our South facing front garden enjoying the evening sun.
You snuggle up in front of the open fire, then retire to our comfy beds in our 3 bedrooms and enjoy a night of deep uninterrupted sleep in the solitude of the Northumberland National Park.
The following day you choose a different route to explore or maybe decide to venture further afield to Hadrian’s Wall country, the Scottish borders or the Northumberland coast.
The major Northumberland towns of Alnwick, Hexham and Morpeth are all no more than an hour away. Smaller but no less charming villages such as Bellingham, Otterburn, Rothbury and Jedburgh are similarly close by.
Kath and Ken hope you will decide to choose Kielder Cottage as your base from which to discover the hidden gems of England’s Northernmost frontier. Our guests often tell us they didn’t want to leave, and many return year after year. The draw of a beautifully furnished and charming cottage in a unique location is hard to resist, why imagine?
