Max Stay:
Take the beautiful 1.30 mile walk from Craster village to the spectacular ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, defending a headland on the rugged Northumberland coast. It was begun in 1313 by Earl Thomas of Lancaster, cousin and leading baronial enemy of Edward II, and its large size proclaimed his rivalry with the Crown. You can explore the ruins of the whole of the castle, with its towered walls and sheer drops to the sea. Look out for the many seabirds nesting around the grounds.
