A rare gem in the Northumberland National Park, a cottage surrounded by woodland and overlooked by Kielder Castle, the former hunting lodge of the Duke of Northumberland.

To stay at Castle Cottage is to stay on the edge of nature, with the added luxury of a castle, village pub and local amenities also on your doorstep.

Built originally as stables and smithy for the Duke’s horses, Castle Cottage is equipped to the highest standard to make your stay comfortable and relaxing.

Days of venturing into the woodlands on foot or on two wheels, can be rounded off with a soothing bath, and a relaxing evening in front of the log burning fire before retiring to our comfortable bedrooms which can comfortably accommodate up to 5 guests.

Perfect for our four legged family members, quiet days can be spent in the sunny enclosed rear garden and summerhouse, which is constantly visited by many species of birds, plus occasional Red Squirrels and even a Pine Marten.

You will find everything you need in the fully equipped kitchen and dining room which opens into the rear garden. You can also enjoy the clean and pure spring water from the nearby hills which supply Kielder Village.

You will find access to be suitable for all abilities, Castle Cottage is a single level dwelling with a large front parking area and ramp access to front and rear of the cottage.

After exploring the many paths and forest tracks of Kielder, you may decide to venture further afield to Hadrian’s Wall country, the Scottish borders or the Northumberland coast.

The major Northumberland towns of Alnwick, Hexham and Morpeth are all no more than an hour away.  Smaller but no less charming villages of Bellingham, Otterburn, Rothbury and Jedburgh are similarly close by.

Recharge your vehicle as well as yourself with our own EV charging point, marvel at the dark skies of the second largest area of protected night sky in Europe, and leave feeling rejuvenated and reconnected with nature.
