All year round - a star gazing and astronomy heaven! The Holly Bush Inn is located in the heart of Northumberland International Dark Sky Park.
We have the largest expanse of dark night sky in the whole of Europe, thanks to minimal light pollution. Winter nights are darkest and best for viewing deep sky objects such as galaxies, while in summer you can view the beautiful Milky Way, passing comets and shooting stars
We have 6 ensuite bedrooms (3 of them are suitable for families) and a self contained apartment which have been graded 4 star by Visit England. All rooms have good quality beds and linens, complimentary toiletries and hospitaility trays as well as free WiFi and flat screen TVs.
Our restaurant serves home cooked food sourced as locally as possible and we are open every night. The bar always serves local real ale and there is good choice of wine.
A drying room can be used by walkers and cyclists who have been caught out in the rain and laundry facilities can be made available. For cyclists or bikers there is also a secure ‘lock-up’ facility, bike frames and a hose for running repairs….
There is a log fire in the bar for cold days and nights and a great beer garden with panoramic views of the valley for sunny evenings and weekends.
A short journey away is Kielder with its many attractions including the fantastic Observatory and the largest man made lake in Europe. The Border Reiver country, Hadrian’s Wall and Alnwick Gardens are just a few of the places of interest which are all easily accessible. All visitors to the Holly Bush always receive a warm welcome from the locals and often comment about their reception in their reviews. The chat and the ambience in the bar has been the highlight of many a short stay.
