Tuesday 5 November | 4.30pm - 7pm | Roman Army Museum
Join us for an unforgettable evening at the Roman Army Museum as we celebrate Bonfire Light – a dedicated, accessible event for you to enjoy the festivities surrounding bonfire night. Experience a unique after-hours exploration of the Roman Army Museum, where we illuminate the stories of the people who lived and worked along Hadrian’s Wall.
During your museum visit, make your way to our activity centre, and immerse yourself in our indoor illuminated journey. Be part of our distinctive bonfire night celebrations with outdoor fire display, where we will be lighting our beacon, specially commissioned for the Roman Army Museum. Surrounded by flaming torches and firepits, this is a celebratory evening of fire and light!
Indulge in campfire-inspired catering available for purchase at our café, with gluten-free options to cater to all dietary needs.
Please Note: this is a separate ticketed evening event – Friends of Vindolanda will need to purchase a ticket.
Parking Information
Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If our car park reaches capacity, Walltown car park is just a 2-minute walk from the museum entrance. Don’t forget to bring a torch!
This event is part of our Awaken Your Senses programme, a commitment to providing accessible and sensory-rich experiences at The Vindolanda Trust. Recognising that Bonfire Night as associated firework displays can pose barriers for some, Bonfire Light at The Museum offers an alternative celebration without fireworks. Join us for a community event where you can enjoy light and fire displays without loud noises in a warm, accessible venue.
