Saturday 23 November | 10.30am till 4pm | St James' United Reform Church Centre
An exciting new arts' event is opening its doors to visitors in one of Northumberland's historic market towns.
Alnwick is already a bustling, beautiful place, with regular market days, an array of gorgeous independent shops not to mention the famous Castle and its nearby Gardens.
Now one of its historic church buildings will host a very special arts' event organised by The Tin Shed.
Around 20 local artists and artisan makers will set up their creations in St James' ground floor main hall and adjoining Embleton Room on Saturday, November 23, 10.30am till 4pm. Entry is free.
Visitors can enjoy a wide range of original art, prints, glass, ceramics, textile and fibre art and much more. The exhibits will be for sale, but visitors are very welcome to just pop in to say hello, meet the artists and find out more about their work.
The Tin Shed, which is based in Northumberland, organises pop-up arts' events at various venues across the county and the Scottish Borders. It also hosts around 50 online artists' studios for visitors to the website to browse the work of these local creatives. The studios were originally set up during the first lockdown to help keep local artists and makers in the public eye. They now run alongside the live pop-up events, which take place across Northumberland and the Scottish Borders, in a variety of venues from village halls to castles.
The Tin Shed was set up by former ITV Tyne Tees Television reporter Lesley McNish in 2014 to help local creatives reach a wider audience and to help make art more accessible to a wider audience. It doesn't take commission on sales, allowing the artists to keep complete control of how they show and sell their work. Work is always shown on easels and tables, keeping costs down and also creating a very informal environment for the artworks.
