The village in the valley

Ingram village sits in Breamish Valley, where tumbling waterfalls, picturesque river banks and rolling hills make it the perfect place to put down your picnic basket. Hike in search of hidden gems, cycle along winding trails and discover the Bronze Age settlements scattered across the valley.

Breamish Valley is one of the most important archaeological landscapes in the country, with Neolithic and Bronze Age settlements that are believed to be over 2500 years old. Ancient history enthusiasts can hike to the hill forts and burial mounds that attract archaeologists from across the globe.

Hike to Cochrane Pike to see the remains of four stone huts, or explore Northumberland’s ‘blackland’, heather clad moorland. Pack your picnic basket and head to Linhope Spout, or ogle at panoramic views over Hedgehope Hill which looms over the valley.

Stroll through the pretty hamlet of Ingram, with its cluster of stone-built cottages and romantic river banks as the River Breamish runs through the village. Ingram is a designated Dark Sky Discovery Site this destination is accessible by members of the public and are officially recognised as excellent places to stargaze.
