Overview

This attractive and spacious 6 bedroom Victorian property is situated in the market town of Alnwick in Northumberland.

This delightful character guesthouse, tastefully furnished throughout, sits in the heart of the Alnwick Conservation area and is only a two minute walk from the town centre and local amenities, including a wide range of good restaurants. Both Alnwick Castle, the second largest inhabited castle in England and known as the Windsor of the North, and Alnwick Garden are readily reached on foot within a further short stroll.

Greycroft is located in a private road, allowing guest parking adjacent to the house. It has an attractive walled garden that has been described as 'an oasis in the centre of town'. Our rooms include a large single, four doubles and a twin. In addition, we have a comfortable guest lounge with a variety of books and games and a bright contemporary garden room where breakfast is served from 8.00-9.00am (8.00-9.30am at weekends)

All bedrooms have en suite shower rooms. They are equipped with colour TV with Freeview and DVD, radio/alarm, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. No two rooms are the same size and this is reflected in the differential tariffs.
Single Room: This delightfully furnished, spacious single room has the benefit of a double bed, accessible from both sides. There are two steps down to the large en suite shower room. Very stylish.
Blue Room: A tastefully furnished double room with double bed and two easy chairs.
Red Room: A large double room looking out onto the garden. It has a kingsize bed, a matching bedroom suite in American oak and two leather tub chairs.
Green Room: A very large double room with bay window overlooking the garden. The room has a kingsize bed and furnishings in American oak, with a comfortable two seater sofa.
Twin Room: The twin room is accessed from the corridor down three steps. It is furnished with white-washed cane furniture.
Yellow Room: This room is also accessed from the corridor down three steps. It is a spacious room with a king size bed and matching oak furniture, large coffee table, 3 seater sofa and large TV.
Wi-fi available.

Breakfast is served in the light and airy Garden Room which has doors leading onto the patio. The garden itself is south facing with ample seating where guests can enjoy the early morning or late afternoon sun as they plan their activities.

Alnwick is historically known as the capital of Northumberland as it lies centrally in the county. It is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful Northumberland coast, including the Farne Islands and Lindisfarne, and countryside from the Borders down through Kielder to Hadrians Wall. Northumberland is the least populated county in the country but is blessed with the most castles, including Alnwick, Bamburgh, Warkworth, Dunstanburgh and Lindisfarne (Holy Island). It was to Holy Island that St Aidan introduced Christianity when he founded the first monastery in 653 AD.

Enjoy the tranquility and the history of this beautiful area.

Northumbrian gem

irgy, Lancashire, United Kingdom
This is a wonderful place to stay. All rooms and public areas are decorated and furnished to a high standard and are spotlessly clean. Nothing is too much trouble for the fantastic hosts, Audrey and Tom. A superb choice of breakfast, delicious and well presented. No negatives - highly recommended.

Wonderful in every way!

Barry C, Titusville, Pennsylvania
A charming inn run by an extraordinarily good humored woman who will take wonderful care of you. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, clean and handsomely appointed. Each is unique. The breakfast room looks out onto a handsome garden and the full English breakfast will take care of you until dinnertime. Greycroft offers adjacent parking and is conveniently located so that you can easily walk to the historic castle very nearby. The restaurants and shops of the village are just steps away.

Anniversary weekend

Chris P, Glasgow, United Kingdom
Our third visit to Greycroft was as good as the previous two visits. We were made most welcome by Audrey, who it was great to see again. Stayed in the Yellow room this visit which was most pleasant. Breakfasts were as good as in the past - thanks Audrey. Still plenty to do and see in and around Alnwick. Thankfully the weather was decent as well. Will hopefully be back for another visit soon.

6* b&b! Audrey is a gem!!

Naomi A,
Well what can I say.....Audrey can not do enough to help - amazing with everything you need for a comfortable stay, kettle, biscuits coffee teas hot chocs, sewing kits, shower gel shampoo in rooms along with tele, dressing gowns and anything else you may need. There is a lounge for guests filled with books, maps and even for guests to have a tipple or two which Audrey leaves out on a tray for guests. Breakfasts are amazing 10/10 for flavours, choice & presentation! Audrey also leaves glasses, magazines, a fridge with milk and water and a fruit bowl for guests. Audrey was so lovely and chatty and makes you feel at home! Gem of a b&b with a gem of an owner!! We will return for sure!! X

A Real Treat

Rodfromsydney, Sydney, Australia
After a warm welcome from Audrey the proprietor we were shown our rooms and we were really pleased. The yellow double room was so impressive it was more like a luxury hotel suite with its lounge and lovely decoration. Wonderfully clean and Audrey was a pleasure to chat with. Breakfast was classical home cooking style and delivered in a professional way. If you are looking for an outstanding bnb them this is it. We loved it and an easy stroll to the castle and town centre. Very easy private parking area too. The only tiny issue was wifi was not accessible in the room(but was in the lounge) but this did not spoil our stay as everything else was of the highest standard. It would definitely be our choice again when visiting this beautiful town and it's magnificent castle and gardens.
