Excellent

_mariahutchinson, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom
This was our 2nd visit to Berwick upon Tweed and Oil Mill Lane Apartment. Everything was superb as always. We were lucky enough to get lovely weather. We hired a car this time around which made getting about a lot easier. Visited lots of different places - Paxton House, Chain Bridge Honey Farm, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Holy Island, Howick Gardens & Aboretum, Berwick Barracks and lots more besides. We would have liked to do more but unfortunately there weren't enough hours in the day. We are already planning our next visit in which we plan to visit the places we still haven't managed to go to yet. John, as ever, was wonderful and is the perfect gentleman. Thank you John.

Oil Mill Lane Cottage replied: Dear Maria, many thank's for your lovely review, it is a always a pleasure to find out my guests enjoyed themselves and managed to visit some of the wonderful attraction that are available in North Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. A special thank's to you and your Mum for leaving the holiday cottage spotless, clean and tidy. I noticed you didn't use the bottle of wine I provide for my return visit guests perhaps chocolate's would be better for your next visit, Yours sincerely, John. X

Idyllic, peaceful apartment

Keith F, Sheffield, United Kingdom
Enter through the door in Oil Mill Lane opens onto a paved patio. Walls covered in Clematis and plants, wild birds and above, a roof garden. This is the idyllic and peaceful property. Worth the four stars it has earned. This was a return visit and will not be our last. Leave the car parked up outside and GO WALK ABOUT ! All attractions can be reached on foot. The famous town walls, beach and pier. The river Tweed. K.O.S.B museum and if you need to go to Edinburgh for a day. The Railway Station is also within walking distance.

Oil Mill Lane Cottage replied: Dear Keith and Sue, many thank's for your lovely comments, I always look forward to your visits and tales of bygone events. The garden and hanging baskets are filling up nicely and the runner beans, tom's and pumpkins just need a little more sunshine, fingers crossed. I will send photo's, best wishes John

Beautiful apartment

hannahLincolnshire, Spalding, United Kingdom
Well, what can I say about Oil Mill Lane apartment that hasn't already been said! All the reviews were spot on. Beautiful, clean, very well equipped- you wouldn't need for a thing. The fresh cream cake, milk, big bowl of fresh fruit and beautiful roses were a most welcome touch. John, the owner is on hand and very helpful in suggesting places to visit. The accommodation is handy for the town and walking around the walls, which surround Berwick. Berwick, itself, like the accommodation is full of lovely surprises. We loved the terraced garden, with the abundance of wild birds - a hidden gem to sit in when the sun shines. Thank you John, we'll be back!

Oil Mill Lane Cottage replied: Dear Hannah, Thank you very much for your lovely review, you were excellent guests and the apartment was left beautifully tidy. I look forward to welcoming you both again, fingers crossed for better weather. Best wishes, John.

Quiet, clean and well-equipped - perfect!

Alison P,
Oil Mill Lane apartments ranks as probably the most well equipped and comfortable cottage we have ever stayed in. John was there to greet us on our arrival and provided parking permits and information about places to go and where to eat. The welcome pack of milk, chocolate cake, and fruit bowl were really welcome after an eight hour drive, and the fresh flowers were another added touch of welcome and homeliness. I always take some essential pieces of kitchen equipment with me on holiday as often they are missing from a holiday let, but everything you could possibly want was provided at Oil Mill Lane, and we made good use of the slow cooker especially. The apartment was warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean and was just what we needed to rest and recharge our batteries. The location of the apartment is ideally situated in a quiet part of town, yet only a two minute walk to the town centre one way and a two minute walk to the estuary in the other. There are three big supermarkets within a 5 minute drive which is also useful for emergency trips to a pharmacy at 10 o'clock at night! We spent quite a bit of time relaxing at the apartment but we enjoyed visiting Edinburgh (by train), Lindisfarne, St. Abb's Head, Paxton House and Eyemouth and found the location to be an ideal base for visiting the area. All in all we had a lovely week at this wonderful apartment in an amazing part of the country and have no hesitation in recommending.

Oil Mill Lane Cottage replied: Dear Alison, David and Hanna, its very good of you to spend your time to give such a lovely review of the apartment and informative of the local and surrounding attractions. I really must thank you for leaving the apartment very clean and very tidy, I would certainly like you and your family to vist again and again, best wishes, John.

Very comfortable and quiet apartment

Paul D, Glasgow, United Kingdom
We spent a week in Oil Mill Lane - two couples - and found it very relaxing and comfortable. John, the owner, is friendly and very helpful about local info - where to visit, places to eat out, etc. As other guests have mentioned, the milk, cream cake and bowl of fresh fruit waiting for us were thoughtful little touches and much appreciated. The apartment itself is centrally situated and within walking distance of shops and attractions but also quiet. It is very well-appointed and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We visited a number of attractions in the area, including Norham, Alnwick and Bamburgh Castles, Holy Island, Chain Bridge Honey Farm and Flodden Field. Berwick is an ideal base for visiting the many places of interest in North Northumberland, as well as being a border town with its own rich history. Unfortunately, the weather meant we were unable to enjoy sitting in John's beautiful garden but it does afford a very nice view from the living room (even in the rain)!

Oil Mill Lane Cottage replied: Dear Paul, many thank's for your super review despite having a week of terrible weather you all managed to visit quite a lot of attractions in the local area. Well done and thank's again, Best wishes, John
