The Garden Apartment is an extension to Fairfield House, a 5 star bed and breakfast guesthouse, and the same high levels of quality have been applied to this open plan studio style apartment. The accommodation has been decorated in a contemporary style, incorporating hardwood flooring and light oak furniture, and comprises twin beds (which can be linked to form a super-king sized bed), a comfortable sitting area with TV & DVD, well equipped kitchenette and wet room style bathroom. Bedding is pure cotton and pillows filled with soft goose down (synthetic pillows available on request).
It has its own decked seating area overlooking the garden. The large terraced garden (shared with B&B residents) is south facing and borders on to fields and woodland - which attracts many wildlife visitors.
Fairfield House is quietly situated on the edge of Warkworth, a picturesque and historic village which forms part of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. An easy stroll down the hill and over the original 17th century bridge spanning the Coquet River will take you to the centre of the village. Warkworth Castle dominates the village and is well worth a visit. In the village you will find an interesting selection of gift shops and galleries, teashops, pubs and restaurants. There is a lovely walk along the banks of the river and in the summer you can hire a boat to row upstream. There is a beautiful sandy beach, which overlooks the RSPB reserve of Coquet Island, just a pleasant 20 min walk from the house. Warkworth is located seven miles south east of Alnwick (famous for its Castle and the Alnwick Garden) making the Garden Apartment an ideal base from which to explore Northumberland's many attractions … or it can simply be a haven for a restful break.

Our absolute favourite

Spent bank holiday weekend at our favourite guest house. We never get tired of visiting Warkworth and Mandy is undoubtedly the hostess with the mostest. The rooms are all decorated beautifully and they are kept in immaculate condition. As always the breakfasts were amazing. The gardens are stunning and this is a beautiful base for exploring the surrounding Northumbrian coast. We were so lucky to find Mandy and Fairfield and we wouldn't stay anywhere else in the area.
Fairfield House, Garden Apartment replied: That's a lovely review - thank you! Always good to have you stay at Fairfield and to catch up with you.
Idillic Short Stay

Had a mid-week break for a couple of nights in Warkworth and were very pleased to find Fairfield during a web search. A great place to switch off, relax and unwind. Our room was quite spacious with everything we needed and overlooked the garden at the rear. Mandy made sure we were looked after with nothing too much trouble. The lovely cooked breakfast really does set you up for the day and the home made cakes and shortbread + sherry are a real treat in the afternoon.

Three of us spent seven days at The Fairfield. Every aspect of our stay was excellent from the cleanliness and equipment in our rooms to the gardens and the breakfasts. I can eat but I did struggle to clear my plate some days. In addition the Guesthouse is ideally situated so that both places of interest and places to walk were easily accessible. When we return to the area in a few years time we will certainly return to this 'Home from Home.'

In my travelling this world, Mandy Lance offers one of the best experiences in terms of hospitality, accommodation, food, location and environment. Fairfield House has an enveloping quality of calm, order and historical context. The House has a special atmosphere, enhanced by the style and manner Mandy Lance brings to your visit, from her initial welcome, through the care and attention she applies throughout the time you are privileged to stay there. If visiting this beautiful county, look no further than Fairfield House and the historic village of Warkworth.
Fairfield House, Garden Apartment replied: Thank you, David, for your excellent review. It was a pleasure to meet you and I hope you will stay at Fairfield House again in the future.
Hard to fault

We really enjoyed our all too brief one night stay at Fairfield House. The house is quietly situated just over the river from Warkworth but within a few minutes’ walk of pubs and restaurants. Mandy is a super hostess, greeting us with tea and homemade biscuits on arrival in the comfortable lounge. Our room (Mackintosh, overlooking the terraced garden) was richly decorated and had many nice original Victorian features (including a fireplace). It was spacious enough for two armchairs and a window seat, and we slept well in our super king size bed - the house is very peaceful at night and truly dark! The bathroom also had plenty of room with a large corner shower unit. Breakfast was plentiful with nice individual fruit bowls, and very generous cooked breakfasts including (very) full English and local Craster kippers with poached eggs and brown bread. Mandy is very accommodating of dietary requirements and as a coeliac I felt well looked after. We look forward to returning!
