Amazing weekend

jenscott2017, South Shields, United Kingdom
We visited Elishaw farm Holiday cottages on Friday 10th of March. Taking advantage of the ‘Cosy Break’ offer of 3 nights for £215. (Plus small fee to bring our two dogs) This offer included flowers, chocolates and a bottle of wine (choice of red or white) on arrival, and to our delight we also received 4 fresh eggs from the free range hens, milk in the fridge and a home-made Victoria sponge cake. Tina greeted us and made sure we had everything we needed. Wood for the log burning stove was supplied for the first night and more is available for you to restock (£3 a basket which we paid before we left). We stayed in the ‘Chicken coop cottage’ and it was lovely. I instantly felt at home, and the dogs settled in straight away. The cottage was very clean, warm, beautifully maintained, with a well equipped kitchen. The heating system meant you didn’t need to use the stove other than for effect. I loved feeding the Shetland ponies everyday over the fence in the back garden. We found our small dogs (Yorkshire terriers) were able to get through the fence but this didn’t really cause a problem and it would be secure for larger dogs. The surrounding grounds of the farm are beautiful, you don’t really need to go anywhere else if you don’t want to. We drove into Otterburn (10mins away, parking at Otterburn Mill) to go on a walk along the public footpaths and bridleways. There is a nice pub there but we chose to go to the off license to restock and enjoyed some drinks back at the cottage. We also drove into Bellingham (20mins away, on street parking) which has a few useful shops such as a chemist and co-op with a cash machine. We took the dogs for a walk along the river before heading back to the cottage with a Chinese takeaway. The weather was quite fair, we were lucky to get a little bit of sun on one of the days. That night the sky was very clear so you could see all the stars. We had an amazing weekend, I could have stayed much longer and was quite sad to leave. I will definitely be returning next year, if not sooner. Thanks Tina and Alan or your hospitality, Jen Scott

AMAZING

malcysbaby, Cleveland
We stayed in Chicken Coop Cottage from 20/02/2017 for 6 nights. On arrival there was a homemade Victoria Sponge cake on the table, half a dozen fresh eggs, a vase full of daffodils and some milk in the fridge. A nice touch that the log fire had been set up already and the twinkly lights in the corner made us feel welcome. There was a big basket of logs to start us off and also kindling and newspapers. The cottage overall was spotlessly clean, lovely bedding in both adequately sized bedrooms. Wooden and tiled floors throughout and two comfy sofas. There was a variety of board games and in the barn outside there is a large trampoline and tarzy! Make sure you take a supply of carrots for the cutest Shetland Ponies that come right up to the garden gate. We found the location perfect for us, we visited Wallington Hall and Cragside House, the small shop in Otterburn, The Border Riever is stocked with a vast range of products and is only a few minutes drive. We enjoyed the swing in the Orchard and walked around the field and down to the river, at this time of year the snowdrops are beautiful. One morning we didn't have any hot water but Tina was on it straight away and by the time we came back from our trip out the problem had been resolved and Tina had kindly done our washing up !! She also let us leave later on the Sunday, as I can only imagine there was nobody taking over on this day. Would we stay again, absolutely YES. Thanks to Tina for an amazing time

beautiful views of the stars and countryside

fantastic for stargazing (very dark skies) and the location is beautiful and tranquil. Lovely and quiet, but only an hour's drive to the coastline, and only 40 minutes drive to Kielder Observatory and Hadrian's Wall. We stayed in Chicken Coop (4 of us) which was cosy and clean, and very warm with a great log fire. The owners are friendly and approachable too. The village nearby has a little convenience shop and a nice pub.

Recent visit

cmcdo2012,
We stayed for a weekend in November as we were looking for a tranquil escape from the preparation for the Christmas season, and that's exactly what we got. A perfect peaceful escape in beautiful surroundings & a lovely cottage. The miniature Shetland ponies & chickens added that extra special something, we will be returning in 2017.

Total relaxation!

joannewaterman120, Kingston-upon-Hull, United Kingdom
We recently stayed in the Chicken Coop view cottage and we weren't disappointed. A beautifully clean, well equipped and homely cottage. We were very touched by the eggs, milk and delicious Victoria sponge that were there on out arrival. A very nice touch. Our surroundings were idyllic and our dog Annie enjoyed her daily walks around the grounds as well as making friends with the Shetland ponies! The location was excellent and getting around the beautiful countryside was easy. We went on several local walks as well as gadding further a field. Tina and Alan were very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend this haven and shall return. Thank you for an amazing break
