Wonderful weeks holiday!

Joy B, Selkirk, United Kingdom
We have just returned from a wonderful weeks holiday in Bluegrass! This amazing Shepherds hut is beautifully situated in stunning countryside and with views of the sea in the distance! Bluegrass is very well equipped and the double bed is so very comfortable, with amazing views from the bedroom window! We enjoyed using the excellent Spa facilities on a daily basis and were made to feel very welcome at Beacon Hill Farm. We also very much enjoyed visiting Meg's Lake, which is a beautiful peaceful haven, with more stunning views and very hard to believe it was man made!

Beacon Hill replied: I am so pleased that you enjoyed Bluegrass. As you say I has a wonderful view and other guests are also enjoying the Hideaways. They have certainly proved popular. Megs Lake is a lovely place and it has really blossomed and matured over the last few years. WE look forward to welcoming you back. Alun

Really high quality, they have thought of everything

Jurassictraveller, Devon
We stayed in Quarry Cottage with friends, it really was a five star holiday cottage. The heated indoor pool and spa were almost enough to prevent us discovering some fabulous local places to eat and visit, all recommended by the knowledgable and charming owner. There's lots to do nearby, and the views over to the sea on one side, and to the Lake District hills on the other are visually stunning. Highly recommended.

Beacon Hill replied: I am glad you like Quarry House; the sitting room has a stunning view to the south and west. I am so pleased that you liked the area and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Alun

Superb break for all the family

Nikki A, Leeds, United Kingdom
From the moment we arrived in our well-equipped cottage, Quarry House, we knew we were in for a treat. From the little touches on arrival like homemade cake, wine etc , to the fabulous facilities and the generosity of the owners, we had a wonderful week. Highlights were cooking sausages in the woods on site, a walk round the idyllic Meg's Lake, daily indoor swimming, not to mention the ride on tractors, trampoline, croquet, tennis, adventure play area and just the beautiful, peaceful location. A fabulous week; we hope to be back! Thank you all at Beaconhill.

Beacon Hill replied: I am so pleased that you enjoyed Quarry House. It was built for my father and has some of his antiques there to this day. The drawing room has stunning views to the south and west and I am so pleased that you enjoyed them. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Thank you again for your lovely review.

Lovely: we may well return

This is a farm which has a number of cottages and a couple of shepherds huts for rent. There are a huge range of 'active' leisure facilities: adventure playground, croquet lawn, table tennis, tennis courts etc etc, a pool, gym, sauna, jacuzzi etc and even two telescopes in a purpose build observatory. It is incredibly well provided. These facilities are generally very well maintained and available on a drop-in basis. It would be brilliant for primary age children. The site is generally quite safe being away from the (very quiet) road and with little internal traffic. You are encouraged to build fires in the woods and cook your own barbecue. Fabulous Some venues are full of rules and notices. Here enough information is provided to allow you to find things but it doesnt feel restricting: quite the reverse. Well done. Whilst this would be a lovely place for young children (there were quite a number on site when we visited) it is also suitable for more adult breaks, seeking quiet leisure. It is in the middle of open farmland and there are some decent walks from the doorstep. But you may need to choose your time to use the pool (early or late) to avoid children and get a good unimpeded swim. We didnt find this a hardship. Our cottage was well furnished and very comfortable. The bedrooms were not particularly large but entirely adequate, but is hard to otherwise criticise. It was lovely

Beacon Hill replied: Thank you so much for your lovely review. I am so pleased that you may come back. The bedrooms are not large in Beech Cottage but lots of the other cottages have larger bedrooms which may interest you in the future. Thank you so much for taking time to write a review. Alun

We stayed in a lovely shepherds hut Bluegrass.Well we were really looking forward to it for weeks and we was not disappointed. They had thought of everything all utensils, pot pans, tin foil even salt and pepper .All plates, cups etc were all top quality cake and a bottle of wine was a great welcome treat as well as was the chocs yum. The bed was so comfy with a lovely view. It was so relaxing and really peaceful perfect evenings on the porch bat watching. We did not get round to using the spa and pool but have already book 3 nights in November to watch the stars and definitely use the facilities when cold outside.

Beacon Hill replied: Thank you so much for your lovely review - and I see that you habe booked again for November- great! Bluegrass has proved to really popular. It has a stunning view down to the Northumberland Coast. We look forward to welcoming you back. Alun.
