Tale of two halfs

Lawrie W, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom
The first half - I have visited this Inn several and have always left complimentary reviews and for the first half this is no different - staff hard working and welcoming and the standard of cleanliness in the accommodation is of the highest standard - well done to the housekeeping staff. Wifi now in the rooms another plus and for cyclists a lock up bike shed, maintenance station and bike wash area(more about that later) To end the first half I have to say that the cooked breakfast I had this morning 14.3.17 was the worst I have been served for a long time - didn't have the heart to say anything to Andrew who was rushed off his feet. Second half - I will not be able to return to the Inn as I am becoming increasingly dependent on my small mobility scooter and this is not a disabled friendly establishment, there is one disabled parking space that also doubles as the bike wash down area -great. The sign by the parking space directs to reception but then there are steps in fact there are steps everywhere the only ramp I found was round the far side of the building I would estimate about 90yds from the parking space and on the slip road off the A1 for Beal services, I couldn't walk the distance so drove only to find the doors locked and a sign saying use new entrance - more steps - if this is the entrance then one would have to circumnavigate the building every time one wanted to access the bar / restaurant and dodge the passing HGVs it also appears that the disabled are also excluded from the "beer garden" more steps. What a difference a few ramps would make and probably cost about the same as a lock up cycle she'd.

Best value winter deal!

Highly recommended - the location is ideal for visiting all the popular attractions so very little driving involved. We stayed off peak - 3 nights, bed, breakfast and evening meal for £40 each person. Full marks for cleanliness in the room, shower was excellent ( and very welcome after a 7 mile walk in the rain!), the meals were well presented and very enjoyable. The staff could not have been more friendly or attentive - always had a smile on their face and went out of their way to make sure you had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. My only grumble would be please reconsider the pillows in the rooms. They were very thin and my husband ended up using five before been able to get to sleep! For any cyclists considering staying, there is an area just for you to wash down your bikes and tools to repair any punctures etc. Will certainly be returning in the future. Thank you again for your hospitality 😀

We stayed for one night, having booked two rooms, on arrival we found that the booking had been entered wrong and only one room had been booked for two nights. However they did have a room free which had a double bed - no problem but they only had two single duvets!!! Our room had problems with the toilet which kept backing up and threatened to overflow. We reported this at first opportunity and hopefully this was sorted. Breakfast was OK but had clearly been kept warm and was very dry. On the plus side everything was very clean.

Amazing value for money!

The 'Winter Warmer' offer provides bed, breakfast and two courses of the evening meal for only £40 per person over a three-night stay. For a single person, it's great as there is no annoying supplement to pay and the advantage of a spacious room which is nicely furnished and snug as well as provided with quality biscuits and tea-making facilities. The staff provide a friendly, warm welcome and the food is of excellent quality. The menu is varied with some interesting choices. I have to be honest here, and say that I preferred the old menu as I found rather too much game featured on the new menu. However, there were other dishes that appealed, all well cooked and beautifully presented, such as the mouth-watering steak pie with its chunks of tender meat in succulent gravy and the delicious fish in its crisp batter. All very good, when you consider that this is all included in the offer. Full English breakfast is provided with other tempting choices such as Kippers and Eggs Benedict. The hotel itself is situated temptingly close to Holy Island and the lovely town of Berwick upon Tweed, with all its turbulent, Border history. Flodden Field is a must for the history lover and the breath-taking coast provides satisfying and scenic walks for the active.

Gets very busy at times

Paul S,
Gets very busy so speed overtakes quality but accepatable if you are in need of a warm meal, the staff are nice and do their best - good menu but be prepared to wait if the car park is busy. Several seating areas seems to be very popular with travelling families

The Lindisfarne Inn replied: Thank you for your review, we do hope to see you again when your next in the area.
