Slow Food Service, not worth it.

Colin J,
We stopped here for a light lunch on Saturday at about 13:30. The good part was that although the Inn was less than half full but the heating was on 110% full. We ordered two burgers and waited, we could see the service from the Kitchen and counted three mains, two mains and a sandwich after 45 minutes I was at the bar asking about our food when it was served. Although the burger bun was huge the burger was lost in the middle of the bread certainly not a 6oz burger. The burger itself was very tasty, however the chips were under cooked.

Outstanding food, wonderful service, and very comfortable rooms

Jindybug, Sydney, Australia
This B&B is located within metres of the best part of Hadrian's Wall. The service and food are faultless. Indeed, the evening meals are quite wonderful and would put the best London pubs to the test. The rooms are quite small, but space is generously allocated to the en suite bathroom. There is nothing to fault about this Inn. We loved it. If we could have our time over, we would stay here without hesitation.

Twice Brewed Inn replied: Dear Jindybug, Thank you so much for leaving such a wonderful review of The Twice Brewed, we are so happy to hear how much you enjoyed your stay and we do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future. Our best wishes, TB

The Twice Brewed Inn

Terry C, Lincoln, United Kingdom
Nicely located Pub/Hotel. The staff were very helpful & accommodating. Food & beer were good. My only little problem is the room quite small but very useably, we had cracking views across the hills so no complaints at all there. The rooms could do with more sound proofing, as we could hear all sorts of noises including somebody coughing their lungs up. Which is a tad annoying when you are trying to sleep. But overall a nice place to stay. & it is dog friendly which is nice too.

Twice Brewed Inn replied: Dear Terry C, Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review of The Twice Brewed, it is great to hear you enjoyed the food, beer, views and that you found the staff to be helpful. Shame the sound-proofing issue lost us 2 stars but we shall work on this! Best wishes and hope to welcome you again, TB

WOW be prepared for a long wait!

Jacqui L, Aveley, United Kingdom
Visited for lunch after a walk in such a pretty area. Dogs welcome, so in we went. Really clean inside and modern looking, didn't have that dirty pub carpet and chairs feel about it, but my goodness what a wait! Arrived at 1pm and stood at the bar for about 15 minutes (and I'm being serious) watching other people being served. My husband is very patient and polite so didn't want to say "me next" but I was fed up so I asked to be served and was kept waiting a few more minutes. Ordered a turkey sandwich, potato skins and a cheese sandwich at 1.41pm. At 2.28pm I asked for an update and was told it was on its way. At 2.56pm I asked again, "it's just being done now"was the reply. We got the food just after 3pm. Not good enough IMO and having to ask for the table to be cleaned was another factor taken into account for my rating of 3. The pub wasn't particularly busy and there was no apparent reason for the dire service. Positives: Staff were pleasant and apologetic. Toilets were very clean and new looking with lots of soap and plenty of clean towels. Food was ok. No butter on turkey sandwich and potato skins we're swimming in grease but cheese savoury sandwich (which was grated cheese with coleslaw) was nice. Little bowls of salad was nicely prepared. The cleanliness would draw me back but the wait time wouldn't and we lost precious daylight hours sitting inside waiting for some basic grub which should never have taken that long to serve.

Twice Brewed Inn replied: Dear Jacqui L, Many thanks for your review, I believe your husband may also have left a similar review so our response to both is same - this is not good enough. I am very sorry to hear of this catalogue of errors; our Team are trained to serve in the order in which customers arrive at the bar, not whomever is closest - to hear this wasn't being done is annoying to us, more so for you and we are sorry. The wait for food is also unforgivable, but again all we can do at this stage is apologise and assure you this is not the norm. We take staff training very seriously and especially as the festive season sadly draws to an end, we are looking at a programme of training running up to the summer season. We hope, if you do give us another go, that you will see much improvement. Best wishes, TB

Good food, real ale, live music, what else could you ask for?

DTPnow, Richmond, United Kingdom
From the initial contact by telephone, to the warm welcome by friendly and helpful staff, I immediately felt that my stay at The Twice Brewed Inn mattered to them. The room was very clean and fresh, and had astounding views over the Northumberland countryside with all the fascinating Roman sites on the doorstep. The food was delicious, with plenty of choice. I had local lamb in a lovely redcurrent and mint jus. There were four local real ales on tap, which made for an interesting evening of sampling. Just when I thought it does not get better than this, there was an evening of live music in the lounge with three very good acts on. By the end of the night, drink was taken, songs were sung, dancing was occurring, and a really lovely atmosphere was experienced by all. It was fun to have been part of it, and made to feel so welcome.

Twice Brewed Inn replied: Dear DTPnow, Thank you thank you, praise indeed! How lovely to hear you had such a great stay, it sounds as though your visit to us is exactly what we aim for! We do hope to welcome you again in future, Very best wishes, TB
