Lovely staff ..food wasn't good

rainbowrover2011, Manchester, United Kingdom
Touring the castles and coast and decided to try a meal here as my partner had been previously and enjoyed the food. The Inn is a nice place with a good layout and ambience. The staff are superb, very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the fish burger - this was listed as being accompanied by salad. When it arrived it was accompanied by chips and a salad garnish. The fish burger was more like a fish cake but very soft and gooey and quite wet. It was very small and not at all substantial, and seriously lacked flavour. I left the bread as there was so little burger , that the bread would have been bland with no filling. My partner ordered the steak pie, he thought the flavour was quite nice but the pastry on top as pale and tasted undercooked. The filling contained only 2 chunks of steak and lots of gravy - which seemed very stingy. Overall the food was very disappointing, we considered raising these issues with the staff, however when you're having a break away the last thing anyone wants is to complain and deal with confrontation! Maybe we picked badly and it was an off night.

Fantastic Property and Staff

BROADSMAN, Manchester
My wife and I joined a large group of fellow club members for a vintage and classic car weekend using the Lindisfarne Inn as our base and yet again the hotel and staff did not disappoint - throughout our stay everything was faultless. From the moment we arrived and were met by Walter and the duty staff team we received a warm friendly welcome, which was backed up by seamless customer service and customer care of a very high standard. The Lindisfarne Inn seems to pride itself on quality food and service - a new menu had just been launched and we found it to contain a wide range of food which when ordered arrived piping hot and mouth wateringly tasty. The staff team at the Lindisfarne Inn are a real asset and great ambassadors not only for the locality but also their bosses - from Chris the Manager right across the whole team demonstrated great professionalism and worked hard to do a great job. We have a lot to thank them for. Housekeeping was high up in the high standards - rooms were not only presented spotless but were also serviced on a daily basis, leaving them clean and tidy for our return each night. We all liked this friendly professional hotel - nothing seemed too much trouble for the management and staff - we were very well looked after. There is also an added plus to this hotel - its proximity to some of Northumberland's finest attractions and natural landscape.

A GREAT BASE FOR TOURING THE AREA.

Ronnie J, Glasgow, United Kingdom
We were organising a Vintage Car Rally and used this hotel as our base over 5 days. The management were very helpful when organising this and were very co-operative during our stay. This hotel makes a point of welcoming walkers and cyclists and has facilities for bicycles. They are also "pet friendly" with dogs being made welcome, this proved very useful for one of our members. The rooms are all spotlessly clean and the shower is powerful and hot. We dined in the hotel most evenings and the meals and service were excellent. Breakfast is served buffet style for cereals, toast and hot drinks with hot food being brought to the table by staff. This was always excellent. The hotel is very conveniently located for Lindisfarne (Holy Island) and is a great base for exploring the many attractions Northumberland has to offer.

Quality vegetarian food

DrMaggs, Halden, Norway
Fast and friendly service. Great food with an interesting choice for vegetarians. We had the vegetarian haggis with neeps and tatties and mustard cream sauce which was delicious and the pea pancakes with asparagus and hollandaise sauce which was tasty but a bit small for a main. Not at all the usual pub grub I'd expected. Really well presented food with loads of flavour.

Nice place, better with a few tweaks.

Paul B, Staffordshire, United Kingdom
Had couple of meals here when on holiday. Nothing overly negative which was good, and the staff were pleasant. I think the beer (couple of locals and a Black Sheep) was too expensive and served too cold, but it is what it is and that might suit someone else. The food was nicely presented, although I felt the sauce for the haggis was light on the whiskey and heavy on the cream, and the veg was served in a couple of inches of water which seemed unnecessary. Would use again.
