Overview

The Joiners Arms is your very own village inn; a haven for lovers of fresh, locally sourced food served up with a contemporary flourish and drinkers of all tastes, from crazy cocktails to comforting real ales. Plus, we're big into families, so kids get to eat, rest and play with everyone else.

The Joiners Arms Restaurant is lively, friendly and a little bit quirky, and the perfect place to hang out when you're not engaged in spectacular coastal adventures or hiding out in your luxe Northumberland boutique bedroom.

We are located in one of the UK’s most beautiful places, in the heart of a National Trust-designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) which fuses the best of both worlds – spectacular countryside and a breathtaking coastal location just an hour from the metropolitan hearts of Newcastle to the south and Edinburgh to the north.

Our 5 Gorgeous boutique bedrooms are individually designed to put the luxe into luxury inns, with irresistible charms like four-poster beds, roll top baths and lots of room for love.

We’re only a couple of miles from the spectacular Farne Islands, famed for its bird life and Atlantic grey seals (boat trips from nearby Seahouses are wild and memorable!); Alnwick Castle and Gardens, home of the first two Harry Potter films; Holy Island, a little gem easily reached across a causeway (just watch the tide...), and some of the best surfing and water sports, golf, field spots, walking and country pursuits you could wish for.

Here at Joiners Arms we are delighted to exclusively announce that we are opening an additional 8 rooms! These semi-self-catering rooms are nestled in the grounds of Newton Hall and are just a stone’s throw away from The Joiners Arms. Each room is individually decorated to match the same high standards of both Newton Hall & the Joiners Arms and are based upon some of the most beautiful beaches around the world. These rooms are available to be booked on selected dates throughout the year.

We hope to welcome you to Northumberland’s first 5* Coaching Inn soon!

Very good gastro pub fare

HRM135, Leeds, United Kingdom
High quality cuisine served without pretention in a really good pub that is superb for children. Great staff and service. We miss the smoked haddock chowder that this place used to be famous for but the menu remains full of choice and standards are high.

Suggest you book if you want a table.

OldBill2, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
Very popular venue for holiday makers and locals alike. We were lucky enough to get booked up and our table was reserved for us in the bar area. A little too noisy to be truthful thanks to some customers who obviously think they own the place (maybe they do!). Male staff rather vacant - perhaps English is not their first language? The female staff were great and no, I am not sexist. Good food service from the girls - slow bar service from the boys. Food very large, very good, piping hot, and very very tasty. Ambience fairly good apart from said noisy bar customers. Would I go again? You bet - very good value for money meals with smiley staff (girls not boys). By the way as you are going down to Newton by the Sea just before the village there is a very large car park on the right with a short cut through to the village and the pub. I recommend using it especially at peak times.

Expected More

Nicola H, Nottingham
After having had a lovely lunch here previously, we were all looking forward to a good Father's Day meal. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. We ordered a shared platter of Olives, Hommus and Breads - this arrived minus the hommus which we had to ask for to be told it had run out. We were then offered Garlic Mayo as an alternative. The main courses then arrived - burgers were described as having a Burger in a Brioche Bun, but we had two thin burgers in a bread roll instead. The Sausage and Mash was good plus the Risotto but overall we were a little disappointed. They seemed to suffer from a usual busy Sunday lunch and the evening meals seemed to have suffered.

Not as advertised

J_Jarndyce, County Durham, United Kingdom
There is some humour in the self-description of this pub. It claims to have a tea garden but the bar staff laughed this off as a mistake. The "luxury" on the signage was also difficult to detect. Nevertheless it was full when we arrived so it fulfills a need and it is close to the wonderful Northumberland coast.

Fabulous pub serving excellent food!

Stuggy123, East Midlands
We were looking for somewhere to eat near Alnwick and came across the Joiners via google that caught our eye and decided to book a table. We were so glad that we did too! It sits off the road in a fabulous coastal village - there isn't much of a car park, so parking is tricky, but we eventually found somewhere. The pub itself is very inviting and tastefully decorated with quality fixtures and fittings. The staff were all very polite and helpful. The whole place just had a real nice feel to it. We ordered our food and were very impressed when it arrived. Beautifully cooked and presented and tasted wonderful. We are qyute fussy eaters, but our meals really were unfaultable! We noted that they have a number of very nice looking rooms for let too - that is something that we may well be tempted with in the future. Really impressed with the Joiners and so wished we lived closer! Highly recommended!

The Joiners Arms replied: Hi, Thank you for taking the time to leave your thoughts on our venue, The Joiners Arms. I am thrilled you enjoyed both the service and food so much! Your kind words will be passed on to them team who will be delighted with your review. We look forward to seeing you again :) Kind Regards, Jade
