Overview

The Joiners Arms is your very own village inn; a haven for lovers of fresh, locally sourced food served up with a contemporary flourish and drinkers of all tastes, from crazy cocktails to comforting real ales. Plus, we're big into families, so kids get to eat, rest and play with everyone else.

The Joiners Arms Restaurant is lively, friendly and a little bit quirky, and the perfect place to hang out when you're not engaged in spectacular coastal adventures or hiding out in your luxe Northumberland boutique bedroom.

We are located in one of the UK’s most beautiful places, in the heart of a National Trust-designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) which fuses the best of both worlds – spectacular countryside and a breathtaking coastal location just an hour from the metropolitan hearts of Newcastle to the south and Edinburgh to the north.

Our 5 Gorgeous boutique bedrooms are individually designed to put the luxe into luxury inns, with irresistible charms like four-poster beds, roll top baths and lots of room for love.

We’re only a couple of miles from the spectacular Farne Islands, famed for its bird life and Atlantic grey seals (boat trips from nearby Seahouses are wild and memorable!); Alnwick Castle and Gardens, home of the first two Harry Potter films; Holy Island, a little gem easily reached across a causeway (just watch the tide...), and some of the best surfing and water sports, golf, field spots, walking and country pursuits you could wish for.

Here at Joiners Arms we are delighted to exclusively announce that we are opening an additional 8 rooms! These semi-self-catering rooms are nestled in the grounds of Newton Hall and are just a stone’s throw away from The Joiners Arms. Each room is individually decorated to match the same high standards of both Newton Hall & the Joiners Arms and are based upon some of the most beautiful beaches around the world. These rooms are available to be booked on selected dates throughout the year.

We hope to welcome you to Northumberland’s most luxury Inn soon.

Excellent food, rather too many dogs.

RedKite47, Ludlow, United Kingdom
First rate menu and friendly, helpful staff, we really enjoyed our first visit so much so that we booked again for the following day. The only negative for us is the lack of segregation of diners with dogs from diners without dogs. Hence on the second occasion we found ourselves eating lunch with a dog either side of our table and it had been raining that morning, why do dog owners assume everyone likes dogs as much as they do ..... enough said. It is popular so recommend you book your table well ahead of when you wish to dine. Sticky toffee pudding and local ice cream delicious.

Good food and hospitality

TheSciolist, Guildford, United Kingdom
It bills itself a gastropub, but I'd call it a good pub grub pub. We called in for lunch and despite it being full, they found us a table and we were served quickly. It's clearly very popular, possibly because it has a long menu that's relatively inexpensive. It does mean that they've crammed a lot of tables in (despite extending the restaurant area) and we did feel crowded. We just went for the sandwiches and they were really good, with no lack of filling. The roast beef and gravy sandwich was impressive - if rather hard to eat as a sandwich! My fish finger sarnie was good too. Other tables were having full meals, and you'd certainly not go hungry. The chief problem was that there really isn't a lot of parking (and adjacent properties have clearly deployed anti-car devices to keep the cars off). I suspect reaching it other than by car would not be easy unless you were walking the coast.

The Joiners Arms replied: Hi, I would like to thank you for getting in touch with us today. We value each and every one of our customers and their opinions so thank you for your feedback. All of your comments will be passed on to the venue manger. We do hope to see you again in the future! Kind Regards, Rachel

Disappointed

jmorg74, Durham, United Kingdom
Not really sure how to describe this one, call themselves a gastro pub but completely prioritise those who drink at the bar to food service. Large amount of people approached bar for drinks, sat in for dinner and had to listen to constant shouting swearing and even being kneed in the back by a drinker wearing cricket gear!!!! Mentioned to waitress who said she would talk to her general manager about the KAOS that was around us but he seemed to be too busy encouraging the rowdiness. Feel sorry for the waiting staff having to deal with this. General manager clearly has money signs in his eyes.

Anniversary Meal

xdamiennax, Manchester, United Kingdom
Having got married at Newton Hall a year ago we are back in the north east celebrating the fact that we made it through our first year as man and wife! Booked our anniversary meal at the joiners and we were not disappointed! Turned up a bit early but table all ready and reserved for us, as were the staff. Prosecco on arrival, great service, beautiful food, never a bad visit here! Great anniversary meal, thank you!!! 😊

I am thrilled to hear you enjoyed your anniversary meal. Your kind words will be passed on to the venue managers. We do hope to see you again soon! Many Thanks, Rachel
