Found this last minute for some friends. Reasonably priced for a family of four. First room had a sofa bed for two teenage kids which was unsuitable. It was quickly rectified. Staff were pleasant and helpful. It is part of the services on an industrial estate but has easy quick access from the A1. Only five mins drive to Alnwick castle. Would recommend to others, part of a chain of 5/6 throughout Northumberland.
Good service and comfortable

It was a bit of a shock to find the hotel was in the middle of an industrial estate about a couple of miles from the centre of Alnwick, but it is nicely designed modern hotel with big comfortable rooms. A couple of gripes a bathroom based- the water was lukewarm and the soap dispenser was hopelessly placed for someone in a bath. Breakfast was fine, everything that the expected . The dinner was disappointing. I suggest you dump the crab starter. The staff were all very nice.
Reasonably priced but quality poor. ✋🏼
Visited here today (14/04) with a colleague, the food prices were average for the area. However the quality of food was very poor. I had steak and ale pie, the meat was very tender but there was vertically no gravy in sight, the chips were stone cold and the peas weren't even remotely hot. The pastry lid was awful with a very odd taste to it. Having said this my colleagues meal was good and of a good quality. I decided I would brave it and go for dessert, what a mistake! I decided to have the summer berry sundae which quite frankly the berries were still frozen. I know the berries are bought in frozen but you would at least expect them to be defrosted before serving them? There was no clotted cream ice cream in sight and the shantilly cream was awful. In summary I would recommend this place if you don't want a steak and ale pie as I'm sure everything else is lovely and there was allot of happy people around us enjoy my their meals. I was maybe one of the unfortunate people who the business couldn't please that day?

Stayed for one night on business. My room was on the ground floor, quiet, spacious and very clean.Comfy king size bed and room had all the expected accompliments. Dinner was a little disappointing, Venison Broth lacked seasoning and contained several fragments of bones.Chicken and sweetcorn Pizza was excellent. Breakfast was the normal self service and lived up to expectations. Worth a visit.
The Hogs Head Inn replied: Thank you for leaving this review! We do appreciate all feedback, so sorry to hear about the Venison Broth - Did you tell a member of staff about the issues you had found as we would have happily replaced it. Pleased you enjoyed everything else! We do hope to see you again soon.

Having stated at the Lindisfarne Inn a few years ago we decided on the Hog's Head for our annual long weekend with friends because it is part of the same group....The Inn Collection'.....and we expected the same standard. The hotel website presents the Inn (very much not an inn in my view) as an attractive building but fails to show that it stands a mere 30 metres from the busy A1 and has a BP filling station 50 metres away on the other side. The rooms are no better, indeed not as good, as Premier Inn accommodation, there is nowhere for residents to sit other than in the bar at the end of which 'Reception' is situated and the supply only the minimum amount of tea, coffee, milk and sugar in the rooms. The standard of cleanliness was very good. The restaurant is a large pub-style arrangement and tends to be very noisy unless you ask for a quiet corner....if there is one. I must stress that the staff and service are excellent and possibly the only redeeming feature. In particular Daniel of the bar/restaurant staff was extremely, helpful, thoughtful and a delight. The food is ok but only average and the plates for the hot breakfast were cool. Overall, whilst this hotel served it's purpose as a base I would not return again.
The Hogs Head Inn replied: Thank you for leaving this review. We always take in feedback and appreciate all reviews. On our website the location is described and does mention the A1 and taking a right turn at the BP garage. We feel our rooms are of a high standard and we receive a great deal of positive feedback from our guests. Our staff would have happily replenished your complimentary tea and coffee tray, please just let them know. I will pass your comments on to the chef about the plates at breakfast. We are a busy Inn and popular with families and larger groups who wish to stay and dine under one roof. As we are a open planned pub with rooms we do not have a separate residence only area. I will pass your kind comment's on about our staff and the fantastic Daniel!! Please do come back and give us another try.
