Sunday lunch and Saturday brunch!

Pathfinder59, Hexham, United Kingdom
We first visited for Sunday lunch with our family including our 2 year old grand daughter who's needs were well catered for. We were greeted by a friendly member of staff who showed us to our table and tended to our every need with an efficient and friendly manner. Our lunch was spot on, the meat and veg. cooked just right. The deserts were equally delicious, the summer fruit soufflé and pistachio ice cream especially! We enjoyed it so much we took a visiting friend there the following Saturday for a spot of brunch. The staff may have changed but the welcome was just as warm and friendly even though short staffed. We had hot meat sandwiches which arrived in lovely fresh rolls, with small baskets of chips and bowls of salad. The gravy for the beef sandwiches was spot on, so much so that it was sampled on my BLT! All in all a great place for good wholesome grub. Chatting with a member of staff, I was told that the hotel was soon going to be doing some fairly major renovation work to rooms, especially the plumbing! We were pleased to hear that the restaurant would not be affected! We will definitely be back!

Don't stay here

sandra b, Grimsby, United Kingdom
Just returned after staying here for one night whilst walking Hadrians wall and it is the worse place l have ever stayed. After walking all day we arrived to no hot or cold water and no flushing toilet. We were a group of 11 walkers and we had a note in the bathroom saying there would be a problem with the water pressure if people tried to take a bath or shower at the same time as the plumbing system was being renovated. If this is the case and you cater for walkers then you should shut the accommodation until you can provide a basic service. Mound around the taps which was very unhygienic. Food in the restaurant wasn't nice and the only good thing about staying was the breakfast which is why l gave one star on may review.

Friendly with a Warm Atmosphere

We highly recommend staying in The Hadrian Hotel. We were walking Hadrian’s Wall and so the location was convenient in a picturesque town. We are told they are redoing some of the rooms so it will only be more comfortable in the future. The friendly staff went out of their way to make sure all of our needs were met! The pub and restaurant are inviting and charming. The restaurant was filled with locals who come because the food is outstanding! It was the birthday for one of the people in our party and when asked to bake a cake for the occasion the chef excelled! It was seven layers of chocolate, custard, and cake; DELICIOUS! We carry many wonderful memories of our stay here!

Great foot

Did not stay here, just came to eat, twice, with a small party. Food was extremely good, service good. Turns out the hotel has changed hands since last year, the new owners are working hard to bring it up in standard. Judging by the food, they are on to a good thing. tasty grouse dish, lots of vegetables, excellent desserts. Refurbished ladies room very nice. Other diners must have had severely bad luck because I'm going back, again, for a third meal pretty soon. Really enjoyed ourselves in nice surroundings, and next year it'll be even better, I have no doubt.

OK, but nothing special.

Clean enough, we had a lovely big room and it was quiet and cool with the windows open. Let down badly by the plumbing and my husband is still complaining about the shower! There was a notice saying they were waiting for refurbishments to improve this but still not great for walkers at the end of a long day to have a cold shower only! Food was OK.
