Overview

The Victoria Hotel in Bamburgh, a family owned hotel overlooking the village green in the heart of historic Bamburgh. The village is dominated by a magnificent castle (featured in many historical films) set in beaches that stretch for miles. The area is steeped in a rich history and fortunately much of the environment has been preserved. Bamburgh is considered by many to be the jewel in Northumberland's rich crown.

At the Victoria Hotel, we have a number of room types to suit all budgets. Our great value standard Double & Twin rooms are a great option for those looking to explore Bamburgh & Northumberland. Our popular Superior rooms are ideal for a relaxing weekend break with plenty of space to unwind, whilst our Castle View rooms offer breath-taking views of Bamburgh Castle and the surrounding areas. Look out for our excellent value winter deals which are now available to book.

The hotel serves food all day, open to all, from light snacks in our relaxed bar (which is also dog friendly) to imaginative main courses in our AA rosette awarded Baileys Bar & Restaurant created using the freshest of locally sourced produce.

Part of the family run STR/Keeping Inn group, who also own the Manor House Hotel County Durham, the Centurion Bar in Newcastle Central Station, and the Honest Lawyer Hotel in Durham.

Lovely lunch

Jacqueline R,
Dropped in for lunch with my husband and two children. Great choice of food for adults and children. Good sized portions, even my very hungry 10 year old was happy!! Everything was delicious and fresh. Would definitely recommend and will return. Staff were all really friendly and helpful!

Easter Sunday

1964SM,
We booked with some of my family for lunch and we were not disappointed. We had the three course lunch which was beautiful. I had a tasty soup followed with a lamb roast everyone else had the trio of meats followed with sticky toffee pudding Everyone agreed the meal was beautiful. The staff were very friendly and efficient.

Decent stay once we got a room with access to get in/out of the bed

NorthumberlandTopCat, Morpeth, United Kingdom
We arrived in plenty time to check in & so glad we did, all seemed smooth & the receptionist was very polite, asking our requirements for morning papers and so on, gave us the key to our room & advised us it was up the stairs on the left. There’s no lift in the building so we headed off up the stairs with our luggage, 4 steep flights later we found the room, very close to 3 other doors. The room allocated to us, 24A was very disappointing, whilst the bathroom was a good size with a look out towards the church, the bedroom itself was an irregular shape with the bed positioned between the eaves. There was barely room to walk past the foot of the bed & no headroom at all to get in the far side. The remote control didn’t work for the TV & the phone had been unplugged so had to scramble under the desk to restore in order to call down to reception, there was no reply so we trudged back down & waited our turn to speak. We expressed our disappointment & asked to change rooms, explained we’d made our booking 8 months prior & couldn’t believe we’d been allocated what felt like the worst room in the hotel, we were told it wasn’t the worst… really. The clue was the room number 24A, it must have been a store cupboard at some point & at it’s very best as a bedroom would have been more suited to a single. We couldn’t get an upgrade as the hotel was fully booked for the Easter break but did eventually get relocated to another room which had a much better layout. It was a nightmare to find first time, up some stairs, along a corridor, down some stairs, along another corridor & down some more stairs but once found it was fine. No outlook but quiet at the rear of the hotel. We did explain to the receptionist that 2 other family parties would be checking in & that it would be no good offering either of them 24A due to the lack of height around the bed. She assured us they would be allocated different rooms, later we discovered one of the group had been assigned the room next door (number 24) & went through the same shenanigans as we did. We did wonder if the reason we were allocated the duff rooms was due to buying a deal via booking.com and not directly with the hotel, guess it’s one for us to watch out for in future. All said once we were settled it was a decent stay, our bed was comfy, bathroom nice & big, breakfast was very good & staff courteous.
