Overview

The Victoria Hotel in Bamburgh, a family owned hotel overlooking the village green in the heart of historic Bamburgh. The village is dominated by a magnificent castle (featured in many historical films) set in beaches that stretch for miles. The area is steeped in a rich history and fortunately much of the environment has been preserved. Bamburgh is considered by many to be the jewel in Northumberland's rich crown.

At the Victoria Hotel, we have a number of room types to suit all budgets. Our great value standard Double & Twin rooms are a great option for those looking to explore Bamburgh & Northumberland. Our popular Superior rooms are ideal for a relaxing weekend break with plenty of space to unwind, whilst our Castle View rooms offer breath-taking views of Bamburgh Castle and the surrounding areas. Look out for our excellent value winter deals which are now available to book.

The hotel serves food all day, open to all, from light snacks in our relaxed bar (which is also dog friendly) to imaginative main courses in our AA rosette awarded Baileys Bar & Restaurant created using the freshest of locally sourced produce.

Part of the family run STR/Keeping Inn group, who also own the Manor House Hotel County Durham, the Centurion Bar in Newcastle Central Station, and the Honest Lawyer Hotel in Durham.

Lunch

gill53617, Workington, United Kingdom
Out for lunch and a friends treat. Service Very slow and when food eventually did arrive it was very disappointing. The soup was lukewarm and the bread for sandwiches was bog standard white sliced! My crab tasted salty and "off" What really annoyed us was the price_£8.95 for above sandwich, few lettuce leaves and small tin of chips!! Grossly overpriced ,and when my friend voiced our concerns she was told , after checking with chef, that the crab was fresh! In comparison we had a wonderful lunch at The Ship ,Low Newton. And excellent value!

Superb

Looking for somewhere nice but not too expensive I came across Victoria Hotel, read the reviews as you do and decided to book in for 2 nights, being a Friday & Saturday. Having been and seen thought I would put my own review on to try and alleviate any concerns you may have having read some of the previous entries by some. Yes the hotel, as someone pointed out, needs someone with a touch up brush to whizz round with the old emulsion. But trust me when I say the place is lovely and the staff, from the new starter on reception to the team who kept us fed and watered were absolutely brilliant. Real fires kept it toasty and we will be going back without a doubt. We stayed in room 15 which has its own little bay window with two comfortable armchairs looking out over the village green and a very comfortable 4 poster. I requested an ironing board and within 5 minutes I was ironing, sad I know but just proves my point that you are guests and they want to help you enjoy your stay. On the Friday we ate in the Brasserie and had the Seafood sharing plate for 2, OMG what a plate 'full' of deliciousness & I do mean full. The main meals were really well seasoned. I had the lamb which for me who likes it pink was a little over done but I didn't ask for it pink so thats how it is. I could go on but I think you get the picture. Get it booked and don't worry about the few negative comments from others.

Weekend break

Toooooo hot. Lying under a towel as room is 25c and quilt is tog 16. Avoid room 2 you get the smell of fish if the windows are open and get woken up by people walking past on the creaky floorboards. Staff a bit dozy as they brought main course before clearing first course then brought back the then cold main. Breakfast was half burnt half cold. You have to make your own toast but the staff will bring you some tea or coffee. Also didn't get the paper I ordered. Needs a kick

A pleasent stay

Joshua L, Yorkshire, United Kingdom
The experience I had at the Victoria hotel was reasonably comfortable and warming. The staff where kind and helpful. The food was good in hygiene and taste and the rooms where up to high standards, as o expected them to be. We picked this hotel mainly because we where taking the dogs with us which is a massive problem when going to hotels, and this one was the perfect choice for us. They not only allow the dogs in the rooms which is great they also allow them in certain eating areas aswell so never worry about leaving them in the room whilst you go down to eat. The food in the morning and evening are both very good quality in taste and hygiene. But I don't paticurelly agree with the prices with the meals you have which is a bit of a disappointment but is worth the money in some cases. But overall it is a great hotel with room which have great views of the castle and the beach.

New year break

Rob0704, Appleby-in-Westmorland, United Kingdom
We had a very nice stay here in the first week in January. The room was good with plenty of room and had a really good bathroom and shower. In places the decoration was a bit shabby but this didn't spoil our stay. The breakfast was really good with plenty of choice. The staff were friendly and helpful. We got a really rate for 3 nights including taking our dog. Well worth a stay if your heading that way.
