Overview

The Victoria Hotel in Bamburgh, a family owned hotel overlooking the village green in the heart of historic Bamburgh. The village is dominated by a magnificent castle (featured in many historical films) set in beaches that stretch for miles. The area is steeped in a rich history and fortunately much of the environment has been preserved. Bamburgh is considered by many to be the jewel in Northumberland's rich crown.

At the Victoria Hotel, we have a number of room types to suit all budgets. Our great value standard Double & Twin rooms are a great option for those looking to explore Bamburgh & Northumberland. Our popular Superior rooms are ideal for a relaxing weekend break with plenty of space to unwind, whilst our Castle View rooms offer breath-taking views of Bamburgh Castle and the surrounding areas. Look out for our excellent value winter deals which are now available to book.

The hotel serves food all day, open to all, from light snacks in our relaxed bar (which is also dog friendly) to imaginative main courses in our AA rosette awarded Baileys Bar & Restaurant created using the freshest of locally sourced produce.

Part of the family run STR/Keeping Inn group, who also own the Manor House Hotel County Durham, the Centurion Bar in Newcastle Central Station, and the Honest Lawyer Hotel in Durham.

Slightly faded but exceptionally friendly

tcampapril, Lancaster, United Kingdom
It goes without saying that Bamburgh is a beautiful place and the castle is amazing to walk around. The Victoria has a slightly faded glory about it. The rooms are comfy and well provisioned, the restaurant and food is very good quality. A nice comfy bar area too. Definitely the staff are excellent , we will return

Over night stay

apple2901,
The Victoria hotel Checking fast efficient and friendly booked a castle view room which whilst more expensive does have spectacular views of the castle and sea view as well . Lovely sitting area and patio doors with glass wall for safety and un-interrupted view  Room Jacuzzi bath and walk in shower  4 post bed well decorated room good selection matching furniture  Slight negative comment dusty on hidden services put a pair of trousers on top of wardrobe and they came down white 😬 cobwebs on ceiling above bed and vent in bathroom very noisy during the night but minor issues did not distract from the enjoyment Bar area very busy with passing trade and residents but there is a residents lounge if you could not find a seat somewhere too go. Dining book table as can get busy food enjoyable but a lot. Had sirloin stake very nice but additional 4 king prawns not necessary and at £1.25p per prawn expensive , onion rings huge , staff very friendly and efficient  Breakfast good choice buffet and cooked which was part of the room cost  Check out a little early at 11am with check in after 3pm 4 hrs for cleaning room a little excessive  Enjoyed stay would come again . Frequently have Sunday lunch at the sister hotel the honest lawyer in Durham similar decor

A home for your four legged friends 💕

Annaliese59,
I have so much praise for this hotel for their kindness & helpfulness. Especial mention goes to the receptionist in training - she was extremely helpful - also the chef who stayed a bit later so that we could eat something after a 9 hour journey spent crawling there! The room was just too small for two dogs & their humans! There didn't appear to be accessible rooms? The practice of not saving tables in the bar-the place you had to eat with dogs-meant that we had to give up part of each day, to ensure we were fed! I think that residents should have the option to book. We didn't want to leave our dogs alone in the room, or the car!! Also, the hotel do not have the practice of saving spaces for disabled residents. The breakfasts were not inspiring, but the waitresses were friendly & obliging. The internet fluctuated & there were no subtitles on the TV? Recommended to us, we would recommend to others!

Good spot for the castle

whitey1962, Worcester, United Kingdom
Second visit! Again good parking options outside the hotel. Staff were welcoming and pleasant. Room was small in comparison with other hotels frequented. I assume it was a single occupancy room as no way would you get 2 people in there. Food options at evening time were good and the portions generous. breakfast was excellent and by far the bet this year - this chef knows the meaning of "well done" bacon - superb breakfast offering overall. Will certainly be returning

Sunday lunch

cockneyshaun, Wetherby, United Kingdom
Stopped here for a Sunday roast lunch and wasn't disappointed. Roast beef, Yorkshire pud. Roast potatoes, new potatoes and six different vegetables as well. All well cooked and tasty. No room for desserts as totally full up. As soon as a table emptied it was cleared, cleaned and people were sat down. Very popular so food is obviously being cooked constantly and tastes like it. Highly recommended
