The Victoria Hotel in Bamburgh, a family owned hotel overlooking the village green in the heart of historic Bamburgh. The village is dominated by a magnificent castle (featured in many historical films) set in beaches that stretch for miles. The area is steeped in a rich history and fortunately much of the environment has been preserved. Bamburgh is considered by many to be the jewel in Northumberland's rich crown.

At the Victoria Hotel, we have a number of room types to suit all budgets. Our great value standard Double & Twin rooms are a great option for those looking to explore Bamburgh & Northumberland. Our popular Superior rooms are ideal for a relaxing weekend break with plenty of space to unwind, whilst our Castle View rooms offer breath-taking views of Bamburgh Castle and the surrounding areas. Look out for our excellent value winter deals which are now available to book.

The hotel serves food all day, open to all, from light snacks in our relaxed bar (which is also dog friendly) to imaginative main courses in our AA rosette awarded Baileys Bar & Restaurant created using the freshest of locally sourced produce.

Part of the family run STR/Keeping Inn group, who also own the Manor House Hotel County Durham, the Centurion Bar in Newcastle Central Station, and the Honest Lawyer Hotel in Durham.

A lovely hotel and I had a room with view of the castle. Lovely seafood starter but the next day the meat starter was not to my liking as I do not like chorizo or salami so had soup instead. Plenty of black grapes, celery, cheese with my third course. Breakfast good with variety of croissants, fresh fruit salad, bowl of fruit. Sat outside hotel and saw crows squabbling as they were building their nests in the trees by the hotel where snowdrops, crocus and daffodils made a lovely show, Nice to see the dogs around the hotel and will tell my relatives that there is a ground floor bedroom. Tuesday night we had lovely Northumbrian entertainment by a couple with Northumbrian bagpipe. This was my second visit and I hope to come again next year.

Stayed here for 2 nights , very comfortable bed, spacious room , bathroom looking a little tired could do with a make over some of the floor tiles cracked.excellent breakfast superb choice , can recommend the full English breakfast. Car park just down the street, unload your car outside the hotel then move your car.

sunday lunch

called in for Sunday lunch three or four members of staff standing talking we asked for a table for two one person pointed and said sit where you like. We waited while the staff finished their hilarious conversation when the same one who pointed asked us if we were ok I said we wanted to order some food ,oh you just order at the bar we only serve in the restaurant. it would have been nice to be told. So we ordered at the bar while the staff finished their conversation .Then one of them brought our food and cleared our table which was very strange as we could not understand why they didn't take our orders. This meant when we needed more drinks we had to leave our food we didn't bother with desserts as by then a load of people came in with dogs and although it is dog friendly we didn't expect the dogs to be barking at each other and the smell of wet dog was we left.

Another lovely stay at the Victoria. It's home from home Lovely room and amazing friendly staff. All at a super winter break price. Great food especially breakfast Nothing is too much trouble at this hotel we are always looked after extremely well. Thank you to all the lovely staff. Good luck to Alex the new manager he certainly knows what he is doing. A great move on the part of the owners. Will be back very soon.

Poor reception/manager

We love coming to Bamburgh have been coming here since I was a lad. First time staying at this hotel it always looked so good from the outside. But I'm sorry to say will never stay here again or book a hotel through TripAdvisor. On arrival the reception was ok but not the most friendly. We were given the keys to our room on entering we found it to have no light shade no curtains despite the rails being up. We laughed assuming it had been just decorated. It did have vertical blinds we thought maybe they would stop the early morning sun . However they did not meaning we were woken at about 6 am by sunlight pouring in to room. Not complaining about the sun ...bring it on but when you come away for a break you expect to have a lie in. On our way to breakfast we stopped at reception the lady asked us to wait as she was finishing a job not a problem we said we started to explain about the room when a guy who we assume to be the manager chipped in on yes they have been ordered (curtain s ) but they are late . No apology but went on to say you can change room or pay for an upgrade. Considering the price we paid through TripAdvisor was over £70 more than the hotel was advertising the upgrade was a joke. We took the alternative room . We asked why we had not been given this room in the first place we were told it was being kept for someone who was coming later in week and had booked it a year ago . The manager went on to say they were aware of the problem but wouldn't say why we were put in that to. We appreciate supply issues but the attitude was terrible. The manager needs to take some lessons from the other staff who were so nice especially the guy running the bar.
