The Victoria Hotel in Bamburgh, a family owned hotel overlooking the village green in the heart of historic Bamburgh. The village is dominated by a magnificent castle (featured in many historical films) set in beaches that stretch for miles. The area is steeped in a rich history and fortunately much of the environment has been preserved. Bamburgh is considered by many to be the jewel in Northumberland's rich crown.

At the Victoria Hotel, we have a number of room types to suit all budgets. Our great value standard Double & Twin rooms are a great option for those looking to explore Bamburgh & Northumberland. Our popular Superior rooms are ideal for a relaxing weekend break with plenty of space to unwind, whilst our Castle View rooms offer breath-taking views of Bamburgh Castle and the surrounding areas. Look out for our excellent value winter deals which are now available to book.

The hotel serves food all day, open to all, from light snacks in our relaxed bar (which is also dog friendly) to imaginative main courses in our AA rosette awarded Baileys Bar & Restaurant created using the freshest of locally sourced produce.

Part of the family run STR/Keeping Inn group, who also own the Manor House Hotel County Durham, the Centurion Bar in Newcastle Central Station, and the Honest Lawyer Hotel in Durham.

Very pet friendly

Judith J,
Highly recommended pet friendly hotel. Our room (29) was vey comfortable with a spacious bathroom and it was ideal as there was a door which lead directly outside if the dog needed to go out. We went into the bar area for food and drinks in the evening and having the dog with us was no problem at all. All of the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others and very likely to return.

Had a lovely stay .Ate an evening meal and breakfast both were really good .Added to by the fact all the staff especially the ladies in the restaurant were so lovely .friendly and efficient. If there was a down side it would be some of the decor in the hotel.was beginning to wonder if they had purchased a job lot of brown paint however you don't go to stare at the hotel walls do you when visiting lovely Northumberland.

Colditz without the guards.

After reading all the positive reviews of the Victoria hotel my wife and I decided to book in for a two day break, this was a huge mistake!. On our arrival we were allocated room 24A, after climbing four flights of carpeted stairs which looked absolutely filthy we found our room, on entering our hearts dropped, yes this was a standard double but it was like something from Lord of the rings, it must have been designed for a hobbit, we were in the converted roof space which had so many low sloping surfaces it was going to be a recipe for many lumps on our heads, I'm a six footer and it was terrible trying to negotiate around the bed. The second point is that it was freezing as only one radiator worked , the bathroom and I say that with tongue in cheek was even colder with the radiator out of action, it was a shabby room indeed but things couldn't get worse, could they?, damn right they could, after running the hot tap for ages there was no hot water untill I tried the right hand tap which is always the cold water, not in this room it's the hot!, a plumber with a sense of humour. I have included some photos of some of the other bodges in the room, including radiators propped up and held on with bits of timber, stains, peeling paint, chipped walls and the list goes on. On a good point the bar staff and the girls who served our breakfast are very friendly and chatty, TOP MARKS ! Now the bar itself, The carpet and soft furnishings are so dirty(photo) I was amazed nothing was said, but I think the reason for this is the amount of our canine friends which frequent the hotel with their owners, now I love dogs but I really don't like them in every part of the establishment, especially where I eat, my better half didn't stop sneezing for the whole trip. On the first night I had to ask reception for some auxiliary heating and fair play to them they put a little electric heater/ blower, brilliant! , on the second night we couldn't get a shower as there was no hot water due to a boiler breakdown, again brilliant, NOT!. All in all it was a lousy stay, in a run down, shabby ,neglected dump (I've seen the fantastic photos on the website and I must have been staying in a different hotel because I didn't recognise any of it. The hotel has real potential, with its great location ect, but it needs major work to bring it up to standard. I didn't think it was worth the £150 tariff for two nights and asked for a reduction which was agreed, Thank you for that victoria hotel !.

Great deal

A warm welcome, a pleasant comfortable room, good bathroom with a great shower. Staff friendly and efficient particularly on Sunday evening. Rib eye steak well cooked and tasty. Cod with ratatouille and potatoes ok but a little lacking in flavour. Cheeseboard very good. Breakfast tasty with plenty of choice from buffet also.

Lovely night away

Stayed here for 1 night, arrived to a warm welcome from the receptionist, our bedroom was spotlessly clean and our evening meal and breakfast were delicious. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. What more could you want on a break away?! We will be returning and will recommend to our friends.
