A very comfortable stay

susiedu, Appleby-in-Westmorland, United Kingdom
We spent a very pleasant night here while visiting the area. The room we were in has a lovely view over the river, it was very clean and there was a bathrobe, slippers and bottled water as well as the usual toiletries and tea and coffee. The bed was large and very comfortable and although the en-suite as a whole was compact, the shower was brilliant and the room had recently been refurbished. The only downside was the lack of a wardrobe although there were plenty of drawers and hangers were provided to use on the back of the door. The food served in the bar was very good and excellent value for money. A suggestion to enhance an already good menu would be to include a lighter starter to enable those of us with smaller appetites to do justice to the main course. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the service excellent.

Excelent accomodations

Bob_Burnham, Denver, Colorado
My wife and I found the hotel at the last minute. We were looking for a place to stay for the night when we ran across the hotel. We had a very comfortable room at a reasonable price. The landlady was very accommodating and friendly. The only drawback was the chef had gone into Newcastle and was late getting back. We had to go elsewhere for dinner.

Railway Hotel replied: We are all really pleased you enjoyed your stay with us at the Railway and hope to see you again. Thank you for your feed back it's very helpful for us to improve. Best Wishes Susan

weekend break for rugby

iain6459, Kingston-upon-Hull, United Kingdom
Arrived to a warm and friendly greeting. Was shown to the Radcliffe Room overlooking the river. This appeared to have been recently refurbished to a high standard. Gowns and slippers and toiletries were provided and also a good selection of teas, coffee and bottled water. The bathroom was a little tight! but again very clean. The breakfast was substantial and well presented and the evening meals were excellent and well priced. The manageress was friendly and approachable as were her staff.

Railway Hotel replied: Thank you for leaving us your feed back we are really pleased you enjoyed your stay with us at The Railway. We all look forward to your return. Susan

superb hotel

robbymac53, gateshead
Just back from an overnight stay with my partner, and I have to say, it's a lovely hotel. The room was very comfortable, good shower and facilities. We had a lovely meal in the bar area. In the morning my partner described her full english breakfast as the best one she's had a for a long time. The staff are so friendly, helpful and welcoming. It's a lovely place to stay and we'll be returning later in the year.

Railway Hotel replied: Thank you so much for your very kind review. It was our pleasure and we will look forward to seeing you again later in the year. Best Wishes Susan

2 night stay

Steelriver, Cleveland
Very relaxing atmosphere. Lovely warm comfortable bedrooms. The bathroom was small (you definitely couldn't swing a cat in it) but it was clean and modern. Nice food. The Bar / Bistro was small but busy with a constant flow of people through. Great service. What more could you want.

Railway Hotel replied: Thank you so much for your review of The Railway Hotel. We really appreciate your time taken to do this and are pleased you had a good time with us. We all look forward to your return. Best wishes from all of us at The Railway
