Nice Staff, Average Hotel

The staff here are among the most polite you'll come across in the north east, they really do this business justice. The hotel room itself is basic but to be expected, beautiful little building in an out the way location (apart from the main road beside it) also there's a speed camera right outside the door, so beware! A little bit pricey at £80 per night too. Attached to a 24 hour cafe which is handy if you need a late night snack, all in all not a bad experience.

Disgusting Toilets

John R,
Stopped here for something to eat on the way to Newcastle Airport (3 July 17) My wife and daughter made their way to the loo whilst me and my boys went to the restaurant, I didn't get very far when selecting sandwiches before my wife, came out of the toilet to advise me that we would not be eating here. The toilets were filthy. Pooh on the toilet seat, toilet paper strewn across the floor and a fetid smell of a toilet not cleaned to appropriate standards. I checked the male toilets. Similar smell and with no towel left in the dispenser(at 1230hrs). Out theory is simple. If the toilets are left in this state, can the food preparation be trusted - perhaps the staff use these toilets also?

Purdy stopover

The lodge is very convenient for travellers on the A1, room was clean and comfortable and as we were at the back of the lodge looking out towards the sea we were not bothered by the nearby main road. Staff very welcoming and helpful, efficient service for breakfast and convenient 24hour cafe next door provided snacks after 9pm when the main restaurant closes.

Favourite hotel

We have stayed here for the past few years now on our annual trips to Northumberland/Scotland. We love this place. Staff are always helpful and friendly and the rooms are lovely. The hotel restaurant is nice or you have the cheaper option of the 24 hour cafe adjoining. 5 min drive to Bamburgh and Seahouses. Will be back next year.

Great Location

If you are looking to explore the very North East (north of Newcastle), with all of it's great history & magnificent beaches, then look no further than Purdy's. Ideally situated on the A1, the hotel is clean & comfortable & the staff are very friendly. Decent breakfast & evening menu is not bad either. Plenty of parking.Try it, you will not be disappointed.
