the rooms were fantastic as was the room service second to none, the fine dining was just perfect, the head waiter was a perfect example how a head waiter carried out his duties under a little stess from some of the residents a credit to linden hall for all the staff.

Great location Terrible Food!

peacockWorcester, worcester
I have just spent the last five days staying at the hotel, travelling out with a group to visit National Trust Gardens and Castles. The hotel is a bit tired but the rooms are lovely and clean with comfortable beds although the decor is old fashioned in most of the hotel. The food is a disaster. The only thing edible are the breakfasts. The evening meals have been horrendous and I truly am not the most difficult person to please. you wouldnt think it would be so difficult to feed healthy tasty hot food!!!! It's like something out of Fawlty Towers, the combinations of food are truly awful and the quality......I would not feed to my dogs. Every morning our group would set off on our coach and the first hour would be talking about the awful food that we had been served the previous evening. Needless to say, they had a lot of complaints from our group throughout the week. They really are missing a trick here. If they employed a more competent chef or two, they would have returning guests as the location is beautiful and convenient for travelling around Northumberland. The front of house staff were wonderful but unfortunately they took the brunt of all the complaints regarding the food. Let's hope they push all the feedback through to the management.

What a fabulous stay.. everything was just lovely. Spa treatments and use of facilities were what you would expect very nice. Afternoon tea was delicious as was our evening meal in the pub and breakfast the following morning. The exceptional part of the trip were the staff. They were so friendly and helpful, advising us where we could save money etc. At the end of the night we encountered a member of staff in the car park leaving after his shift. Just before entering his car he enquired if he could do anything for us before he left.. niw thats ehat I call service. Would highly recommend.

Peaceful Country Hotel

ivan243, London, United Kingdom
We stayed at this lovely country hotel on a group tour of Yorkshire and Northumberland with Great Rail Journeys and we were surprised and delighted with it as we were not expecting too much from very mixed reports we had read. The hotel is on a country estate surrounded by a golf course and lovely countryside and there is even a pub in the grounds which we didn't used so cannot comment thereon. The hotel is an old private manor house tastefully converted. From the main hall a staircase leads up to a gallery off which are two or three bedrooms, one of which we had , which was, if I remember correctly was 236. It was a very comfortable room with a lovely view of the countryside; I suspect one of the best in the hotel. There is a spa in the hotel which we did not make use of as we were out touring all day.And after two busy days spent in various parts of Northumberland, we were very happy to get back to such a comfortable and pleasant environment that the hotel offered. For meals, the group sat in a special dining room just for them at tables of five. The food which was special for the group and obviously was tailored to a price was fine and offered three choices for each course. On our last night i chose a rib eye steak from the main a la carte menu which of course was at an additional cost (19.50 in fact) and when i found, on leaving in the morning, it was not on my extras bill I pointed this out to the lady at the desk and was told to forget it. ( I hope I haven't got her into trouble) I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone I know who may travel to that area

Very poor decor.

n0tatallhappy, Barrow-in-Furness, United Kingdom
We stayed here for two nights and were very disappointed. Firstly when we arrived we were shown to a room that was very dusty and shabby. It was extremely hot as it was situated over the kitchen. We opened the window and saw a rat running accoss the road outside. We stood in the same place for a little while and saw numerous rats. We informed staff who were already aware of the rat problem! Staff were very kind and moved us to a different room that was not too hot. Hence no need to open windows and allow access to rats. This was a very disappointing start to our few days away.
