A genuine 14thC castle set in a 12-acre woodland estate with brush-mown lawns. All 27 guest rooms have private facilities, some of which boast window seats set into 7ft-thick walls, sauna, spa bath, and 4-poster beds.

Castleview and Castle View Lodge - converted Grade I Listed buildings within the grounds, offer additional guest rooms. All rooms have draped canopies over the bed, colour satellite TV and stunning views up to the main castle 80m away.

The magnificent drawing room, with blazing log fire, traceries and stained glass, together with the oak-panelled cocktail bar, compliment the intimate nature of the Josephine Restaurant.

The food served in the restaurant is of the highest order, making the most of fresh, local produce, with fish and game a speciality.

With recent changes in the law, which have allowed marriages to take place in certain registered premises, Langley has quickly established itself as one of the country's foremost venues for hosting civil weddings.

Langley is perfect for discovering the delights of Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Scottish Borders and the Metro Centre. The exclusive nature of the castle makes Langley the perfect destination to be pampered in unique surroundings.

Fantastic hitel

Wonderful location, fantastic hotel. We upgraded to the Radcliffe room in the actual castle. The most amazing bathroom ever! We had a sauna plus the most fabulous bath. The room had a four poster bed plus a seating nook. The restauarant was excellent and the service couldn't have been better. Will definitely be going back

Afternoon tea.

Just been to here for afternoon tea as I bought my friend a voucher and we went together to have a catch up. As we arrived we were most impressed by the grounds and the castle it was beautiful. We entered and told the receptionist we had a booking, she was very pleasant and directed us to the drawing room. We were seated in big comfy high backed chairs facing the room and asked if we wanted tea or coffee by a young girl. Then a waiter came and asked us again if we wanted tea or coffee as the girl had finished her shift? He asked if we had any dietary requirements which my friend has and they accommodated for that. We were not given an option for brown or white bread. The drinks arrived and they said it would be 5mins for tea plate to be served. Tea plate arrived it looked nice, there was nothing explained of what was on plates but there was salmon sandwich, egg sandwich and ham sandwich, 3 scones we worked out as fruit, plain and cheese, jam and clotted cream, there was no butter for cheese scone and no staff around to ask for any, having 3 we cut then in half and shared each one. Although the plain scone was very well cooked. There was finger sized homemade chocolate eclair, slide of brownie, small cup cake with lemon topping and what we though was rhubarb and custard in a shot glass. We finished our drinks and was not offered a refil at all. The surroundings was beautiful would say the best place as in surroundings as I have been to lots of places, but I don't think I would return for afternoon tea.

We visited Langley Castle on March 5th (courtesy of a Groupon voucher) and were not disappointed. First visit for all of us and the initial sighting of the castle was very impressive with beautifully kept grounds. We had our afternoon tea in a magnificent hall with beautiful furnishings and a lovely warm atmosphere. The afternoon tea itself was absolutely fantastic. Fresh sandwiches, scones that were fresh and soft and a delightful variety of little cakes. Add an endless supply of tea and coffee and superb service and our afternoon was just a delight. Full marks and thankyou to the management, chef and staff who all made this birthday treat very special.

Beautiful place , excellent service

We chose Langley Castle as a stop over point for our journey further up north the following day and we were not disappointed . The Castle itself is simply beautiful and quite a breathtaking sight , we turned up very late approximately 8.55 pm , we were hungry and mentioned that we ideally would have liked some dinner but accepted that we were very late and if it wasn't possible then not to worry . The two members of the Langley staff who greeted us were second to none , nothing was a problem to them , the one gent phoned the kitchen and pre warned them of our arrival , told us to get settled in then go upstairs to the lounge area have a drink and a look at the menus . We had a lovely meal in the restaurant and a lovely relaxing drink afterwards !! After a good nights sleep and a lovely cooked breakfast , we left to continue on with our journey . All the staff , were professional , polite , smartly presented and seemed to be happy in their workplace . Very impressive indeed , many thanks

Mostly excellent but room for improvement

First to the excellent bits … We stayed in room 7 - the Radcliffe Room - which is a stunning four poster bedroom in the Castle with beautiful furnishings, a cosy raised window seating area and a huge clean bathroom with sunken bath and a sauna. Pre-dinner drinks in the drawing room in front of the log fire was a lovely start to evening, followed by an excellent evening meal. The food was presented beautifully and staff were friendly and attentive without being over-bearing. Overall the evening was amazing and more than we could have hoped for. We enjoyed the castle tour in the morning – the young lad taking the tour was a good speaker and it was great to learn about the history of the castle. Up until the next morning our stay was faultless but unfortunately a few things in the morning tainted the experience for us. Breakfast is only served until 9:30am which seems awfully early for a Sunday morning when you’ve come away to enjoy a lazy weekend. However, as it turned out this was not to be an issue for us as the room next door made such a racket that sleeping beyond 7am was impossible – you could hear everything they did in the bathroom and they had the TV blaring from early morning so loudly that we could even make out what programme they were watching. Breakfast was disappointing compared to the standards everywhere else in the hotel. The staff were so busy pandering to a couple next to us (who appeared to have had a bad experience at breakfast the previous morning so staff were falling over themselves to make sure they were happy) that we felt somewhat ignored. Unlike the other couple we were not offered more tea, coffee or toast or asked if everything was OK – if we had been asked we could have told them at this point that one half of my eggs Benedict was stone cold and the sausage on my husbands full breakfast was anaemic and also stone cold. It’s a shame that the morning was not as great an experience as the previous evening, however I would stay again as we may just have been unlucky with our next door neighbours and breakfast.
