Overview

A genuine 14thC castle set in a 12-acre woodland estate with brush-mown lawns. All 27 guest rooms have private facilities, some of which boast window seats set into 7ft-thick walls, sauna, spa bath, and 4-poster beds.

Castleview and Castle View Lodge - converted Grade I Listed buildings within the grounds, offer additional guest rooms. All rooms have draped canopies over the bed, colour satellite TV and stunning views up to the main castle 80m away.

The magnificent drawing room, with blazing log fire, traceries and stained glass, together with the oak-panelled cocktail bar, compliment the intimate nature of the Josephine Restaurant.

The food served in the restaurant is of the highest order, making the most of fresh, local produce, with fish and game a speciality.

With recent changes in the law, which have allowed marriages to take place in certain registered premises, Langley has quickly established itself as one of the country's foremost venues for hosting civil weddings.

Langley is perfect for discovering the delights of Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Scottish Borders and the Metro Centre. The exclusive nature of the castle makes Langley the perfect destination to be pampered in unique surroundings.

Superb Hotel

wolkenhamilton, hamilton
Spent two days here in early January. Food and service excellent and good value. Faultless. The building is full of character and the staff are well trained courteous and helpful. Bedrooms very comfortable.

Lovely castle, nice stay

Ukohacat,
We stayed in the castle view outbuildings in a suite as the castle was fully booked. The room was really spacious and I have to say the bed was one of the comfiest I've ever stayed in a hotel. The rooms have Sky, tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom was nice and modern. The hotel was pretty much booked up but the room was nice and quiet. I liked that info provided in the room shows local walks you can go on. There are daily tours of the castle at 10:15 which was a nice touch. It takes you up on the top of the castle to see the views and they've gone to the trouble of preparing a video explaining the (complicated) history of the castle. It was really interesting! Breakfast was nice, I asked for a bacon sandwich even though it was on the menu, they were happy to oblige. We'd recommend a short break here, we enjoyed it!

Afternoon tea

Angie S, Blackpool, United Kingdom
What a fabulous afternoon tea experience in a beautiful castle that has been renovated to a very high standard . The food was excellent and the staff especially Elaine was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble for Elaine who showed us around and was very informative regarding the history and what guests can expect during their stay at this beautiful place. Would love to go again and stay overnight but highly recommend afternoon tea.

It's a "Proper Castle", but not a Luxury Boutique HOtel

Michael C, London, United Kingdom
We stayed here for one night in August this year. If you want the experience of staying in a proper castle, then I think it's probably hard to beat. Service was friendly, if occasionally slow (specifically taking the food order in the bar before we headed down to the restaurant took ages). Evening meal in the restaurant was excellent, ditto breakfast, and they were very accommodating of my wife's gluten free diet (the best bread she's ever had, apparently). I could only make two criticisms really. Firstly, the room we had was above the kitchen and suffered from stale food odours (think they may have shared ventilation somewhere along the line). We didn't complain given we were just staying one night, but I'm surprised they haven't addressed this and it was unpleasant. Secondly, it does feel tired. By this, I mean that the modern elements of the hotel are no longer that modern: technology, bathroom fittings, decor, carpets. The charm comes from the building, not from the interior design and furnishings, so don't expect a luxury boutique hotel. Thankfully, they don't charge the prices a luxury boutique hotel would, and therefore I think the overall experience was pretty good value for money. For us, I think it's a box ticked and I doubt we'll be back, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it a "proper castle" is what you're looking for.
