Overview

A genuine 14thC castle set in a 12-acre woodland estate with brush-mown lawns. All 27 guest rooms have private facilities, some of which boast window seats set into 7ft-thick walls, sauna, spa bath, and 4-poster beds.

Castleview and Castle View Lodge - converted Grade I Listed buildings within the grounds, offer additional guest rooms. All rooms have draped canopies over the bed, colour satellite TV and stunning views up to the main castle 80m away.

The magnificent drawing room, with blazing log fire, traceries and stained glass, together with the oak-panelled cocktail bar, compliment the intimate nature of the Josephine Restaurant.

The food served in the restaurant is of the highest order, making the most of fresh, local produce, with fish and game a speciality.

With recent changes in the law, which have allowed marriages to take place in certain registered premises, Langley has quickly established itself as one of the country's foremost venues for hosting civil weddings.

Langley is perfect for discovering the delights of Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Scottish Borders and the Metro Centre. The exclusive nature of the castle makes Langley the perfect destination to be pampered in unique surroundings.

Very good

Donna M,
Booked here for afternoon tea. Very well priced, staff fantastic and surroundings beautiful. It was a surprise for my mams 60th birthday. I lived in Haydon Bridge for many years before leaving to live in Leeds and can't believe I never visited this place. I would recommend to anyone.

Not cheap, but worth it

We had a room in the main building, well appointed and large, with a lovely 4 poster bed. The bathroom was amazing; larger than many hotel bedrooms, with Janet & John basins, a sunken jacuzzi bath, separate shower cubicle and small sauna. The restaurant is in keeping with the overall decor of the building, service was attentive without being intrusive or over fussy. Food from the fixed price menu was excellent, with 4 - 5 choices per course, obvious quality and the portions were just about right. The wine list could perhaps do with a little work on it, not as extensive as I would have hoped. The only real sour note was that for a hotel which is firmly pitched at the leisure market, mainly for couples I would guess, breakfast closed at 9.30 am, which is far too early if you want to have a lie in on your weekend break.

Birthday treat becomes a great idea

RonLynda, Darlington, United Kingdom
We stayed in the Cadwallader room at Langley Castle for one night as a birthday treat for my wife. The room is accessed via a spiral staircase which could be difficult if you are unsteady on your feet, although I believe there is a lift which staff can help you use. The room is well presented with stonework on show and a comfortable four poster bed. One worry was the outside temperature of 2 degrees so would the room be warm or chilly, in fact the heating was exceptionally good in the bathroom and bedroom. Usual facilities with a range of tea and coffee, also nice products in the bathroom. The evening meal was delicious with an interesting choice of dishes. A nice bottle of wine with the meal and some pre dinner local gin and tonics made for a pleasant end to the day. Breakfast choices, but we selected the full Northumberland Breakfast. But all the above would be wasted if not for the staff, everyone we met was friendly and genuinely interested in making our stay enjoyable. Well done to all the staff

Beyond our expectations

Heather M, King's Lynn, United Kingdom
An amazing hotel, 5 star:- accommodation, food, staff and all round experience. The staff were all very knowledgeable about the Castle and its history. They were happy to answer any questions. The rooms were fabulous, can't wait to go back.

Mixed feelings

sadie131965, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom
After returning home from our 3rd stay at Langley castle i feel a little deflated. As with our previous stays the food was sublime, our room fabulous, and the surroundings magical, but come on Langley castle surely you can find some staff to work in such a beautiful place. At check in we were greeted cheerfully as usual, but told our room was not ready (we were a little early)we were told we could drop off our luggage, while doing this we found the maids looking hurried and obviously under pressure to turn round the rooms (only 2 of them which seems strange for such a big place) Dinner service was to be no different, while the staff were very friendly and curtious sadly the efficiency was not there as again only 2 of them and again under obvious pressure. This carried on throughout our stay,After saying all this Langley castle is still one of my favourite places to stay and is a must if you are in the area . The rating for service is only low because of the lack of staff.
