Home From Home

Bob M, Barrow-in-Furness, United Kingdom
If you are looking for a quiet bolt hole well located to explore the coast and the county towns this could be the place for you. My wife and I stayed for three enjoyable days on a DB&B basis in the main hotel at the end of August. We found all the staff to be very friendly, courteous and efficient particularly those running the dining room. Food was very good with a wide choice available at both dinner and breakfast. The wine list is good and fairly priced and bar prices were as expected. The dining room and resident lounges have recently been refurbished to a high and comfortable standard. Our room was comfortable and looked to have been recently re-painted. It has been previously mentioned that the bedrooms are to be refurbished starting this winter (hopefully to the same standard as the dining room/lounges). For the managements attention - remove or replace the green awnings over the front and side doors! If you are thinking of visiting the hotel then do so, we doubt you will be disappointed.

Avoid room 4

LeicesterDaisy, leicester
We booked a double room for two nights and were unlucky to get room 4. It is a very, very small room with one side, high level window which is covered by a net curtain as it looks straight at another building. The bathroom is a squeeze and the shower above the bath did not work well. The room was not comfortable for two people and the double bed was small. We paid £130 per night for B&B and we did not think this was a fair deal based on the many other hotel rooms we have stayed in. We would however like to point out in respect of the rest of the hotel that the staff were lovely, the food (dinner and breakfast) was good, the hotel was clean and the ground floor of the hotel was much more modern and comfortable than the upstairs room we had. We did mention all of these points to the manager on departure. The hotel is in a good location the small village of Embleton and a 10 minute stroll from the beach where you can walk south to Craster and north to Beadnell and beyond.

Trip to Northumberland

PicklesFarnborough, Farnborough
Have just spent six enjoyable nights at this hotel as a location to visit Northumberland. We eat in the restaurant every night so tried a selection of very good food, if on have the lemon sole which was excellent. Very comfortable bed and had a good sleep very night. Very good breakfast. The staff are very friendly and helpful offering good service. Would recommend as a good touring base and would certainly stay again

Excellant restaurant

Carolorphil, Oswestry, UK
We ate once and it was so good, both the food and value, that we had to go back again. Would recommend the burger which is as far away from a Mcdonalds that you can imagine. The lamb was also really good.

week at Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel

CapCarol, nottingham
Very good time at hotel. Staff very helpful. Breakfast really good and when we had evening meals in the restaurant the food was very good. Lovely place to stay. We arrived with two suitcases and were a bit disappointed that no-one offered to help us with them as we are 2 ladies one 55 and the other 65 and we had to carry them upstairs as there was no lift. The room was alright but a little bit tired, the beds creaked and unfortunately we could hear the man in the next room snoring. Overall though the positives outweighed the negatives but just wanted to give an honest appraisal. It was a lovely surprise to find that the British Cycle Race went right by the hotel which was a great experience. Staff worked really hard to make it a special time.
