This old coaching inn, in Belford might look a bit tired, but was still a clean and comfortable place to stay, the staff were friendly and helpful and the dinner was really nice with a great atmosphere in the bar area, we will not hesitate at going back soon

My wife and I were not staying at the hotel but went for a meal on 9th March. I had the Blue Bell Burger with a side order of onion rings which was really good. My wife had Chilli Con Carne with potato skins and a side order of chips. The Chilli was tasteless and consisted mainly of white beans and mushrooms with a smattering of meat. My wife could not eat it and we did not pay for it so in the finish her meal consisted of the side order of chips.
We don't have high expectations and we aren't high maintenance but we were booked in for 2 nights. We appreciated the history of the place but we had a meal on the Friday night - steak night. The waiting staff were all very young. Not much experience which is fine. But they didn't know much about the menu or how to clear a table. The breakfast is a bit disjointed if you are in the back of the hotel as everything else is in the other room. The cups are tiny I am sure they could find a slightly bigger cup. On my second morning I ordered poached egg on toast. I know it was my fault I didn't say EGGS I got this lonely little thing in the middle of some dry toast. Cannot really recommend the food. Went to check out and the person on the desk had nipped out. Last check out was 10.30 could she not have waited til then. Doubt we will be back there, but couldn't fault the surrounding area.
Blue Bell Hotel replied: Good Morning. Thank you for your review. Yes, some of our staff are young but have all been with us for some time now and are well aware of the menu - and how to clear a table. We have a great, friendly team at our privately owned, family run hotel - we aren't a large corporate hotel and sometimes situations arise where we do have to 'nip' away from our desk. The cups are normally coffee cup size, and you may refill them as many times as you desire. Sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us, but thank you for the gift you left in your room to make us fully aware of your disdain.

We just don't tire of this hotel. No better way to brighten up a miserable February. On arrival a great welcome from Heidi the manager. All staff are so welcoming with nothing to much trouble for them. Joe the chef came out for a chat and a new member of staff Tracy looked after us for breakfast and keeping our room neat and tidy. She is full of fun with a great sense of humour which appeals to my personally. Well cooked food and plenty of it. Monday night is folk music night where a lot of locals play and sing which you don't see very often nowadays. Tuesday is two pound Tuesdays where a pint of lager or beer or a glass of wine is would you believe £2. Great to have a chat to the locals and other guests. This is a privately owned hotel and is an old coaching inn which every time we go we can see improvements being made to the hotel. I must congratulate the owners for preserving and improving this very special building in the heart of Northumberland.
Blue Bell Hotel replied: Absolute pleasure having you stay with us again and we look forward to welcoming you all back soon :)

The Bluebell Hotel is an old coaching inn that is full of character. We stayed for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in room 12. Staff were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Our room was spotlessly clean and well equipped with hairdryer, iron and board, tv and tea/ coffee making facilities, good sized ensuite with bath/ shower. The food at the Bluebell is excellent, breakfasts were plentiful with a good choice and we ate in the restaurant both evenings and had a real treat with the best food we had experienced in a long time.
Blue Bell Hotel replied: Thank you so much for taking the time to write us such a positive review. We are all over the moon that you enjoyed your stay with us. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel.
