Disappointing place to stay.

Sue C,
I was disappointed as soon as I saw Whyteside. It has no street appeal. However once inside I was impressed by the beautiful dining room, which was already set ready for breakfast. The grand staircase led to the first floor and to the guest rooms. Our room was then two steps down and was very small. The big, heavy furniture accentuated this and left no room to move about the space. The bathroom, although larger was quite dated and needed a good clean as mould was evident. Breakfast times were staggered and was good. I would not recommend this B & B

A nice place to stay

The room was comfortable and in a good location for the local attractions. Breakfast was very nice, we had to book the time for breakfast the day we arrived as they have a small dining room with one large table to sit round, which was nice as we got chatting to another couple. The owner was a really nice friendly chap and parking was right outside the guest house, you are given a permit to display in the car window.

Lovely stay

I stayed with my wife for one week and chose Whyside house for its location and previous reviews. Albert made us very welcome and gave us a lot of advise on where to visit and eat. Breakfast was limited but very tasty, room confortable but my wife found it slightly cold. Shower excellent, tea and coffee replaced daily. Will come back next near.

Cozy B+B

David R,
We stayed here whilst visiting Berwick for the food and drink festival. The Whyteside consists of only four rooms and we stayed in room 2.The room was nice clean and had an en suit that was also clean and fully functional. The breakfast was small but contained nice quality ingredients and was adequate for the price paid. Albert the owner is a pleasant fellow and is a mine of information about the local area and Berwick itself. The only bad thing was the amount of road noise and local early morning revelers who enjoyed a loud conversation at around 4 am every night. Obviously this is not the owners fault but it did spoil our stay a little.

A good base for exploring the coast.

A small b&b located in the centre of Berwick upon Tweed, my wife and I stayed at Whytside House for four nights, we were warmly welcomed by the proprietor who was full of local knowledge and advice concerning the local area. Our bedroom was in the front of the house and be warned Berwick is a very busy town and so the traffic noise can be unpleasant. Our room was clean and tidy and well furnished, the ensuite was a good size and clean but the shower cubicle showed signs of age and mould was evident around the bottom of the doors and the sides,a good wipe with diluted bleach or a proprietary brand of anti mould would certainly help. Strange that you had to book your breakfast time and choice of breakfast the day before but we were warned of this before our arrival and it was of a good standard. Car parking outside on the street was no problem and free all day. The railways ration is just a five minute walk away.
