Set in mature gardens, Tillmouth Old School was built in 1867. Closing in 1965, it was then sympathetically converted into a private dwelling that the Hodgson family have made into their home.

Offering two spacious suites, Tillmouth (King) and Podmore (double), both are equipped to a high standard with many little extras to make your stay special. Breakfasts are made from locally sourced produce such as Craster kippers, Bamburgh bangers, Chainbridge honey, free range eggs and homemade preserves. Special diets are no problem, just mention when booking.

For those on a cycling holiday, we have a secure lock-up for your bicycles, and for those who prefer to stay on two feet we can provide guided walks upon request.

Upon arrival there is complimentary afternoon tea with home baking and preserves. We, as Northumbrians, are passionate about our heritage and look forward to sharing it with you.

Short break with my lovely husband

Gina M,
Felt like a short break away with family and not just staying in a B and B . The small touches every day of chocolates placed in our room each day , the fabulous breakfasts were all second to none .atmosphere was so friendly and warm we did not want to leave . We was given so much information on local history , even getting our private guide Noel to take us to flodden battle ground and his knowledge is unbelievable . Judith could not do enough for us , everything spotless everyday . An excellent cook and the best tea maker and jam maker by far !!!!! Would highly recommend a stay here , you would not be disappointed.

Perfection Beyond Belief.

It would be totally impossible to find fault with this establishment. The hosts, Judith and Noel, are the nicest people you could ever wish to meet, a welcome like no other. You immediately feel like 'family'. Gosh, where else would you be given home made tea and scones, they were delicious! Everything was perfect and first class quality, it's virtually impossible to describe how perfect it was. Very highly recommended, it cannot be matched, can't wait to be able to return. Thank you Judith and Noel.

Charming House

Be a guest at the Old School House and you'll be made very welcome by Judith your host. When we called to say we would be late, usually an afternoon check in, she offered to book us in to a local pub for an evening meal so that we didn't have to search when we arrived. In a quiet location just off the main Berwick to Cornhill road it is well placed for days out in the Borders and the Northumberland coast. The upstairs room was spacious and has its own separate bathroom. The comfy bed ensured a good nights sleep. A wide choice is offered at breakfast and all freshly cooked, sets you up for the day.

The Old School House, A Tillmouth & Northumberland Gem

We met Judith & Noel as we arrived at the The Old School House, just the most charming welcome, tea and scones, they are the most lovely couple who with a gentle touch guided us to experience the Northumberland area to its best, including the Honey Farm, the perfect coastal port of St Abbs and the local hotel just 5min walk for tea at the Tillmouth Country Park Hotel. Sensational food served at Breakfast from Judith and a lovely fire stocked by Noel made for a perfect start to each day of our stay. We stayed in the upstairs large room with a cracking bathroom just outside the door, being the only two room upstairs it made for a perfect accommodation. I would fully recommend this venue to anyone, country retreat within striking distance of the natural beauty of the Northumberland coast, a day out at the Farne Islands saw Puffins/ Seals and an amazing sight of 7/8 Dolphins passing by. In the end it was the small touches of Judith & Noel that made the trip a very special one. Jonathan & Claudia

Had an evening booked here by our daughter as a present for us,thank goodness she did.A warm welcome from the minute we stepped through the door, tea and warm scones in the sitting room and a friendly chat with Judith and Noel and the other couple who were staying. The accommodation was top class, lovely room, bathroom, comfortable bed,and the little touches which made all the difference.Choice of teas and coffees, cakes, biscuits and chocolates.Suberb breakfast the following morning, and a parting gift of one of Noels own novels. Our one regret? Only staying the one night but we intend to return.
