Lovely place, excellent breakfast!

NCL_LS, Newcastle
Visited for one night and loved the converted church! Rooms are lovely with excellent bathroom. Nice little touches like chocolates left on the bed with slippers and a robe, tea and coffee, bottles of water. The cooked breakfast is served to order and very well made and presented, with a wide variety of other breakfast items available to help yourself to also. In a small village a short drive away from Berwick so close to places for dinner and the hosts offered great advice on things to do around the area. Highly recommended!

Absolutely fabulous

We stayed at this beautiful converted church for one night but wished we had stayed longer. The rooms were very comfortable and tastefully furnished. There was a wide choice at breakfast which was excellent. We were made extremely welcome by Trevor & Fiona and would not hesitate to stay again if we were in the area.

A splendid find in a small village a few miles from Berwick on Tweed

'The old church' has been tasfully converted into a large family home which the owners Fiona and Trevor share with their guests. They are charming hosts and make you feel very welcome . The sitting room is available for guests to use and provides a warm relaxing area in the evening. Bedrooms are well proportioned and have comfortable beds , are nicely decorated with large ensuite facilities.Tea and coffee is available with fresh milk if preferred. Breakfast was excellent with a huge choice on offer and the porridge was cooked to perfection! We throughly enjoyed our stay and would do so again if in that area and happy to recommend to friends. We don't normally stay in B&Bs as prefer anonymity of a hotel but as owners have their own private area you did not feel you were invading their home and could relax . Truly a beautiful house with lovely and helpful owners . Views from upper floor where breakfast is served . Co

The Old Church, Horncliffe replied: Thank you for your kind comments, we hope that we do see you again one day. Best wishes, Trevor

Superb B&B

This is a superb B&B in a quiet location. The property is an old church which the owners have converted very tastefully into luxury accommodation. Our room was very comfortable and the breakfast choices fantastic. Will certainly stay again.

Charming, friendly and delightful!

Just returned from a 2 night stay in The Old Church and can concur with all the positive reviews previously posted. I honestly can't believe anyone would be less than delighted with their stay here! Truly one of the most charming places I have ever stayed in and with the friendliest of hosts. Fiona and Trevor genuinely care about making your stay in their home as perfect as possible and have thought of everything....and if there is something else you need, all you have to do is ask. The church has been sympathically converted to a very high standard and is tastefully decorated throughout. Breakfast is bountiful, with something to suit all tastes. Our room was lovely. Big chunky wooden furniture with loads of drawers, and lovely comfy beds. The en suite is large and beautifully decorated with a huge walk in shower unit. There's tea/coffee making facilities in the room and even a fridge out behind the lounge area where you can get fresh milk and even use for your own stuff. I took my elderly mum to Horncliffe as her uncle was the headmaster in the village school in the early 1900s and Fiona and Trevor were so helpful with information about where to find the old school etc ... they have great advice for all guests about where to visit and things to do. As previously mentioned, the local pub is just a few doors down from The Old Church and we went there both nights. On the second night we were entertained by some local musicians, which was a lovely end to our stay. I could bang on for ages about it all but suffice to say if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Northumberland you won't find nicer than The Old Church. Thank you Fiona and Trevor for a lovely time....will definitely be back!

The Old Church, Horncliffe replied: Thank you very much for your generous and kind review. We enjoy welcoming guests into our home and comments like yours make it all worthwhile. It was interesting to learn about "old" Horncliffe and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting you both. Best wishes, Trevor.
