very disappointed with staff and hotel
frequenttraveller554, Belfast, United Kingdom
Unfortunately I never actually made it to the hotel as my brother sadly and unexpectedly passed away the day before I was due to stay. The staff showed me no grace and even though I explained my circumstances for cancelling they still charged me for my stay!! Really was gob-smacked to say the least! Under any other circumstance I would have been happy to pay as I had cancelled late and I fully understand the 3 day cancellation notice but totally shocked to be charged given what I was going through. I was told that as I had the room booked they had to turn other people away so i would have to pay... maybe next time I'll get more notice of a sudden death!!!!! I have no problem paying (and have) and the money isn't the issue, the person on the end of the phone was my problem. So much for customer care. I have been so annoyed it has taken me over two months since my brothers death to build the strength to write this.
Ideal for our weekend

Very welcoming and hospitable owners who even offered to pick one of us up from the station if required. The twin rooms were ideal for us. Warm, clean & the breakfast was excellent. Only a 5 min walk from the town centre & a couple of miles from Vindolanda and Hadrian's Wall.
a nice B&B and great location

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon. We wanted a small quieter town in the countryside and we picked correctly in Haltwhistle. The B&B is just a block or two from the main area of town where there are lots of shops, pubs and restaurants to be had. The breakfast included was just great. a huge full cooked meal including Black pudding was offered as well as a walk up selection of juices and many cereals and lots of different kinds of fruits & yogurt so if a big fry up isn't your thing you would be very satisfied. There is also another eating room on main level if you wanted to eat take out with small fridge and yet another big comfortable sitting room on that level with a computer with internet and a big screen TV to watch with lots of videos too. Our only problem we had was our reservation that was for 4 nights was for some reason not there and because of it we were going to have to get another room on day 2 in another town as it was busy. As it happened there was a cancellation and we got to stay all 4 nights. Our room that we had was, I believe, not rooms we were hoping for and that's why I've rated them average. It was a nice, clean on-suite but a bit smaller than some of the other rooms we saw. The staff from the owners to the maid servers were so friendly and accommodating and I would recommend this place to any one. We might even be back. I hope so!
The B&B to stay at in Haltwhistle

Stayed for just one night on cycling trip through north of England. Large top floor 3 bed room with huge en suite bathroom; comfortable beds, and very quiet as not much traffic through main street. Very friendly staff, and best breakfast we had in a week of travelling. Storage facilities for bikes if needed. Two minutes walk from restaurants.
The photos don't do the place justify, it was lovely. Gary the owner was so welcoming and made us feel at home. We were a big group of hikers doing "walk the wall" and he couldn't help us enough. Thank you and sorry about the smell of deep heat haha.
