Rye Hill Farm offers you the freedom to enjoy the history and beauty of Northumberland throughout the year, while staying in the pleasant family atmosphere of a cosy farm adapted especially to receive holiday makers, both self catering or bed and breakfast.

The bed and breakfast is in self-contained farm-buildings that were formerly used as cow byres with feed stores above, many of the original features have been kept. We have a variety of ensuite bedrooms according to your requirements, and all are centrally heated. Each one is equipped with colour television, hot beverage facilities and lovely large towels.

We provide a full English breakfast usually served between 8 and 9, with warning we can be flexible on the timings. Our breakfast menu includes things like our own home made brown bread, jams, banana bread, cooked garden fruits and eggs[when the hens are laying!], other ingredients are locally sourced where ever possible.

Additional facilities include laundry facilities, a games barn with pool table, bike shed and safe car parking.

This is a 300 year old Northumbrian stone farmhouse and adjoining barns set in its own 30 acre of rural Tynedale. We hope that you will be able to see something of life on a small working farm, with its flock of sheep, poultry, ponies and Grandchildren.

There is a good network of footpaths for walks along the riversides through Slaley forest of up onto the moors. Northumbria is famous for its rich supply of castles, roman remains and early religious sites as well as its wonderful open countryside. A week is hardly long enough to see all of it.

Wonderful Stay

Andy D,
From start to finish our stay here was wonderful. We arranged an early book in and on arrival my family and I were made to feel extremely welcome. Could recommend highly enough. Very attentive owner 😊

Rye Hill Farm replied: An early check in can usually be arranged if I know in advance or I could be out tending the sheep or doing the shopping!

Home from home comforts!

We have just returned back from a fantastic new year weekend break and I wish I was still there! I stumbled across Rye Hill Farm whilst looking for a convenient place to stay, not too far from home, for the New Year weekend. Being a family of 6 with only a 5 seater car, we generally have to hire a 2nd car or use public transport. Not wanting the extra expense of hiring a car I looked at places along the rail network direct from my hometown and found Rye Hill Farm not too far from Hexham. So car packed up with the 2 eldest children and our rather large 6 month old black lab pup, hubby driving, and myself and the 2 girls hopped on the train. Car journey from Hexham station to the farm was no longer than 15 minutes. My husband had already checked in when he dropped off the boys which was uneventful and straightforward. The door of the cottage opens into the living area of the cottage which has heated floors! There was plenty of seating in the living area for the 6 of us and a lovely large dining table. First stop was the kettle for a brew and what was there waiting for us... homemade brownies! these were demolished in minutes and was a lovely touch! The kitchen is perfectly equipped with everything you could possibly need ... double oven/top grill, microwave, fridge freezer, toaster etc... even a dishwasher! Cleaning materials were also provided as well as tea towels and plenty of towels in the bathrooms. There was a fab little bookshelf with a mixture of books and reading material and a cupboard full of board games and puzzles... the girls played monopoly for hours and my husband taught all the kids to play backgammon. The ground floor bedroom was very spacious with 2 single beds and a wet room ensuite with a shower chair for those who require assistance when showering. Upstairs were a further 2 bedrooms... one was again very spacious and had a double bed and a single bed, also an ensuite bathroom with shower over the bath (the bathroom loved very newly fitted!). The 3rd bedroom as much smaller than the other 2 but had a king size bed and a TV... so who was I to complain! Again the ensuite bathroom had a shower over the bath. All bathrooms had complimentary toiletries and toilet rolls and all the bedrooms had fleece blankets on the foot of the beds which the children liked to snuggle into on the sofas when watching TV. Even though outside was very cold, sometimes we had to turn down the heating as the cottage holds in the heat very well. We didn't have any babies or infants with us but I noticed that the cottage was well equipped with a travel cot, highchair, sippy cup, baby cutlery, plastic plates, bowls and beakers! From the living area there are double doors leading to an enclosed patio area. Everything was just perfect and the owner, Elizabeth, was very friendly and welcoming... we will definitely be returning... without a doubt!

Rye Hill Farm replied: Thank you so much for such a full review it is very much apprieciated . You were a lovely family to have to stay and we hope you will be able to return in the future perhaps when the weather is warmer for the children to enjoy more of the outside.

Lovely stay

Absolutely wonderful stay in a converted outbuilding. 3 good sized bedrooms held our family of 5 with space to spare. Copious hot water for baths and showers with underfloor heating to boot. Kitchen well appointed and all rooms clean and tidy. Highly recommended.

Rye Hill Farm replied: I am so glad you enjoyed your stay with us in our self catering cottage, the underfloor heating is so lovely I agree I have now put it in my house too!!!

Comfortable and relaxing b and b

Had a very relaxing, comfortable overnight stay. Both rooms were spotlessly clean, and the furnishings were top quality. Lots of nice touches and the breakfast was very good too. We went into Corbridge for dinner where there were plenty of options to choose from.

Rye Hill Farm replied: It was lovely to have you to stay , Corbridge has several places to eat if you are not wanting to try our local pubs.

A lovely fleeting visit

The owner was very friendly, helpful and cooked a great breakfast. The room was nice and clean, sheets fresh, shower was hot, plenty of towels etc. We were only there a night, but I would recommend this place. Lovely views from our windows too. Excellent :)

Rye Hill Farm replied: Thank you for your nice review it is much apprieciated and I hope we will be seeing you again in the future.
