Welcoming break

Elizabeth032, Huddersfield
This B and B had so many qualities; really clean and lovely smelling sheets and towels, nice toiletries, all those little things you want in a room (hair dryer, bottled water, coffee, tea and biscuits), a super comfy bed, a really quiet and restful night's sleep but what made it a cut above others was the friendliness, attentiveness and care of Brian and the fantastically yummy, locally sourced (and non-greasy) breakfast (with copious coffee!). I was travelling alone and am often anxious about feeling self-conscious but Brian was so genuinely interested and caring he made me feel a valued customer. I would highly recommend the Reading Rooms.

Panoramic view of the old bridge crossing the Tyne

For us this B&B "ticked all the boxes" as they say. The room was warm, clean and spacious. The shower room was of a generous size and the modern shower issued truly hot water. The WiFi reception was excellent. Even though the location was at the centre of the village double glazing ensured a peaceful night's sleep. The beds were comfy too. Breakfast was prepared based on ingredients requested the night before. Ours was excellent. Ample parking was available in the street below and the railway station is a mere 5 minutes away. In summary we would say that The Reading Rooms is exceedingly good value. Shops and pubs were at close quarters and we do recommend The General Havelock for a superb dinner at a reasonable price. And finally the view of the river scene from our windows was rewarding. Thank you Brian, the host.

Quality You Can Depend Upon

chasingthemoths, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
It is one thing to visit a bed and breakfast establishment and be impressed by the service and facilities. It is quite another thing to repeatedly visit the same establishment and continue to be delighted by those standards. Such has been my experience at The Reading Rooms in the delightful Northumberland village of Haydon Bridge. I've almost lost count of my frequent visits, and each stay is more enjoyable, indeed my expectations are invariably exceeded on each successive trip. The enthusiastic traveller who is searching for the real spirit of Northumberland hospitality will find a happy home at The Reading Rooms. Brian is a most congenial host who strives to ensure all of his guests have a memorable stay under his roof. Of course, good old fashioned service of this sort makes the discerning customer want to come back time and again - and this is definitely true in my case. I would not hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a relaxing break in an incredibly beautiful and unspoilt part of the country.

Great Place - Lovely People

SveMeu, Bottrop, Germany
We stayed at the Reading Rooms for one night and absolutely enjoyed it. Our room was clean and cosy and offered a great view of the river and the beautiful bridge. The pubs are close to the B&B. We got to enjoy a perfectly nice evening with some local people. We had an awsome freshly prepared breakfast in the morning. Our hosts made us feel like home and were helpful with all our wishes. I'd highly recommend that place and the village in general.

Perfect stay, fantastic hosts

We stayed here as we had a wedding near by. The location was idyllic and quiet. The B&B itself was located right by the beautiful bridge.. plenty of parking near by. The rooms were clean and very spacious. Exactly what we needed. Our hosts were brilliant and even took me the next morning to collect my car that I had left in the wedding venue the night before. The breakfast was nice and as it's only a small b&b it's very personal and quiet. Price was standard of what you'd expect to pay. Highly recommend
