Overview

This attractive and spacious 6 bedroom Victorian property is situated in the market town of Alnwick in Northumberland.

This delightful character guesthouse, tastefully furnished throughout, sits in the heart of the Alnwick Conservation area and is only a two minute walk from the town centre and local amenities, including a wide range of good restaurants. Both Alnwick Castle, the second largest inhabited castle in England and known as the Windsor of the North, and Alnwick Garden are readily reached on foot within a further short stroll.

Greycroft is located in a private road, allowing guest parking adjacent to the house. It has an attractive walled garden that has been described as 'an oasis in the centre of town'. Our rooms include a large single, four doubles and a twin. In addition, we have a comfortable guest lounge with a variety of books and games and a bright contemporary garden room where breakfast is served from 8.00-9.00am (8.00-9.30am at weekends)

All bedrooms have en suite shower rooms. They are equipped with colour TV with Freeview and DVD, radio/alarm, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. No two rooms are the same size and this is reflected in the differential tariffs.
Single Room: This delightfully furnished, spacious single room has the benefit of a double bed, accessible from both sides. There are two steps down to the large en suite shower room. Very stylish.
Blue Room: A tastefully furnished double room with double bed and two easy chairs.
Red Room: A large double room looking out onto the garden. It has a kingsize bed, a matching bedroom suite in American oak and two leather tub chairs.
Green Room: A very large double room with bay window overlooking the garden. The room has a kingsize bed and furnishings in American oak, with a comfortable two seater sofa.
Twin Room: The twin room is accessed from the corridor down three steps. It is furnished with white-washed cane furniture.
Yellow Room: This room is also accessed from the corridor down three steps. It is a spacious room with a king size bed and matching oak furniture, large coffee table, 3 seater sofa and large TV.
Wi-fi available.

Breakfast is served in the light and airy Garden Room which has doors leading onto the patio. The garden itself is south facing with ample seating where guests can enjoy the early morning or late afternoon sun as they plan their activities.

Alnwick is historically known as the capital of Northumberland as it lies centrally in the county. It is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful Northumberland coast, including the Farne Islands and Lindisfarne, and countryside from the Borders down through Kielder to Hadrians Wall. Northumberland is the least populated county in the country but is blessed with the most castles, including Alnwick, Bamburgh, Warkworth, Dunstanburgh and Lindisfarne (Holy Island). It was to Holy Island that St Aidan introduced Christianity when he founded the first monastery in 653 AD.

Enjoy the tranquility and the history of this beautiful area.

Love this area and this host!

Audrey was a wonderful host for our recent 2-night stay in Alnwick. She was warm and gracious and provided much good information on an extraordinary town and area in England (you must go!) Our room was spacious and clean and breakfast plentiful. Thank you for a memorable time in Northumberland!

Fabulous

Just left this lovely B&B this morning after spending 2 days there. What a fitting end to our 40th wedding anniversary trip. Greycroft is in our opinion rhe best B&B in the area. What charming, friendly hosts. We stayed in the green room which is superb. Tastefully decorated, comfortable and spotlessly clean. I cannot fault it. The vegetarian breakfast was the best we've had in part due to the scrumptious homemade sausages. Alnwick is delightful with so much to see. We will definitely return. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.

Audrey & Tom made us most welcome , looked after our every need in what can only described as first class accommodation . Tom cooks marvelous breakfasts & both he & his Mother are a wealth of knowledge on the local area. If we are every staying in Alnwick again it will be at Greycroft.

short visit

Breaking a short visit to Scotland we stayed a couple of nights at Greycroft Place. We were welcomed by Audrey with open arms as if we had been regular visitors. What a lovely place to stay, with great amenities and with easy reach of Tanners Inn, town centre, Alnwick castle and gardens and a great bookshop. Our stay was a wonderful experience and we shall certainly visit again but this time for longer.

Excellent place to stay. Highly recommended.

This was a repeat visit to Greycroft where we were made to feel very welcome by Audrey and Tom again. Such a lovely place to stay, good advice on local places of interest along with recommendations on where to eat. No hard sell just good suggestions. The bedrooms and en-suites are all to a very high standard, lovely and clean also. Tom's cooked breakfast really does set you up for the day. It really is the best place to stay if you are visiting Alnwick. We shall certainly return in the future, which I guess is the best form of recommendation.
