This delightful character guesthouse, tastefully furnished throughout, sits in the heart of the Alnwick Conservation area and is only a two minute walk from the town centre and local amenities, including a wide range of good restaurants. Both Alnwick Castle, the second largest inhabited castle in England and known as the Windsor of the North, and Alnwick Garden are readily reached on foot within a further short stroll.

Greycroft is located in a private road, allowing guest parking adjacent to the house. It has an attractive walled garden that has been described as 'an oasis in the centre of town'. All bedrooms have en suite shower rooms. They are equipped with colour TV with Freeview and DVD, radio/alarm, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. No two rooms are the same size and this is reflected in the differential tariffs.

Alnwick is historically known as the capital of Northumberland as it lies centrally in the county. It is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful Northumberland coast, including the Farne Islands and Lindisfarne, and countryside from the Borders down through Kielder to Hadrians Wall. Northumberland is the least populated county in the country but is blessed with the most castles, including Alnwick, Bamburgh, Warkworth, Dunstanburgh and Lindisfarne (Holy Island). It was to Holy Island that St Aidan introduced Christianity when he founded the first monastery in 653 AD.

Enjoy the tranquility and the history of this beautiful area.

So accomodating it was amazing

David B,
We stayed here for two nights in July 2017. When we booked we knew had to swap rooms as the room we wanted was already booked. This was all handled with such ease it was amazing. We thought our first room was great, but then when we saw the Yellow room it was stunning with all kinds of little luxuries and a lovely view of the garden. Audrey the host was the best. The little touches in the B&B were just the icing on the cake, from the port to the fridge with bottles of water. The breakfast choice was extensive with something for everyone. I'm sure we will be going back there again, and would recommend it to anyone.

Second visit, same great experience.

The balance of making you feel like you are staying with friends whilst offering a superb service is great. Excellent local knowledge and advice on local events and places to visit. We were chatting over breakfast with the other guests at our previous b&b 100 miles to the south. We said that our next few nights would be at a truly wonderful b&b in Alnwick- "You must mean Greycroft" was the unprompted reply!

Home from home.

Warmly welcomed by Audrey with the offer of refreshments in the comfortable guest lounge. There is plenty of information available on the town & local area both from Audrey & and from the extensive range of leaflets. We stayed in the red room which was spacious, comfortable & quiet, with a view over the attractive rear garden. Whilst small the bathroom was perfectly adequate with a large walk in power shower which was superb. Breakfast, courtesy of Audrey's son Tom was first class with plenty of choice. Choosing our breakfast the day before was not an issue for us. The B & B is very central but was situated in a small & quiet cul de sac. It is within easy walking distance of all the main attractions in Alnwick and has pubs & restaurants within a few minutes walk. Overall the accommodation is spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. We would not hesitate to stay here again & would recommend it to anybody visiting the area. Many thanks to Audrey, Tom & family for your warm welcome & hospitality.

Simply wonderful!

It is little wonder that the reviews of the Greycroft are so consistently good. Right from the first arrival on a very rainy day in Alnwick, Audrey was welcoming, helpful and full of information. There are some really important personal qualities and attributes to being a B&B owner and Audrey hits the highest mark! She is relaxed, confident and honest. Tom helps make the team tick really well, his breakfasts are sublime, I had the pleasure of choosing four different menu items on each of our four mornings we were there and they were all excellent! The house is well located, The Tanners Inn being a wonderful 'proper' pub, just round the corner and the town and its attractions just down the hill. We travelled as a party of 4 and we were in the Yellow room and our friends in the Green, both rooms were extremely clean and well appointed and spacious. The little touches like bottled water and fresh milk in the landing fridge and the complimentary port and Lindisfarne Mead in the lounge really added something to make it special. Greycroft is in a great location, has superb hosts, is an excellent place to stay and I would highly recommend it!.

The very best guest house

We visited Greycroft in June 2015 and had a wonderful stay. As we were returning to Northumberland this June it was a simple decision to once again stay at Greycroft. It was just as lovely as before, Audrey & Tom are warm and very welcoming hosts. The house & rooms are really lovely, with the yellow room our top choice. There is an extensive breakfast menu with something for everyone. My gluten free issues were quickly resolved and we had fantastic breakfasts whilst looking out on the beautiful walled garden. Audrey has a huge amount of sightseeing information available to give you the perfect stay in Northumberland. Don't delay, book your stay.
