Malcolm and Jenny were perfect hosts and went above and beyond to look after their guests, Great for walking and a perfect spot to stay for 2 or 3 good nights and walk the wall from there every day. good supper at The Sampson

Comfortable B and B near Hadrians wall Path

dwp673, Modesto, California
We stayed 1 night at the Bush nook in Gilsland,England while walking the Hadrians Wall path. It was very comfortable, had a good shower.and tasty breakfast. It is in a rural setting 1 mile from the wall path. They don't offer dinner but the owner will drive you in to a nearby Pub and then pick you up. Malcom also happily picked us up from the trail and returned us the next day. I would stay there again.

Lovely location and fabulous host!

MrsB99, MrsB99
The host couldn't have been more welcoming. Absolutely lovely to chat to and very knowledgeable about the local area. Breakfast was amazing, lovely ingredients and the luxury of a proper coffee machine! Rooms were comfortable and clean with lively views over the countryside. Communal areas were spacious and very well presented. I would definitely return with family for a short break next time I'm in the area.

Make yourself at home

OrilliaMusicMom, Orillia, Canada
Since Bush Nook already has dozens of top notch reviews, I will be succinct. Our family of four stayed here one night during a 3-week driving tour of the UK. Our fourteen-year-old son summed it up: "Of all the B&B's we stayed at, Malcolm's was the most welcoming. Other hosts say 'Make yourself at home', but Malcolm truly makes you feel at ease in his guest house," We were lacking for nothing during our stay, and would have been happy to stay longer, if only to spend more time chatting with Malcolm! He is the consummate host!

Bush Nook Guest House replied: Many thanks for your prompt and positive review. Your son obviously has a great future as a "travel critic", he is a great judge !. Seriously we appreciate your comments. Malcolm

Second Multi Night Stay when walking Long Distance Paths

TonyinUK, Leicester, United Kingdom
8 of us stayed at Bush Nook in 2015 when walking Hadrian's Wall. Last year I had to cancel at short notice when I had to stop walking Pennine Way although 4 others continued and stayed at Bush Nook. Malcolm was very fair re my cancellation. So this year, 2017, it was time to have another "go" at Pennine Way and 4 of us stayed at Bush Nook for 3 nights. On arrival we were provided with tea/coffee and some excellent biscuits. Breakfast was very good with a large choice of cereals, fresh fruit "salad" and fresh whole fruit, together with varied hot choices. We had dinner "in" twice which was good and ate at a local pub, 1.6 miles distant, on the other night. With no transport, Malcolm collected us at the end of our days walking and returned us to the same point the following morning. And also took and collected us from the pub the night we didn't eat in. There is an "honesty bar" at Bush Nook with a range of bottled beers, wine and spirits. The conservatory is an ideal place to relax with (or without) a drink and meet some fellow guests of which quite a few from America. After a particularly wet day, on the Hadrian's Wall section where it coincides with Pennine Way, we were glad of the use of the boiler room which doubles as a drying room. Our twin room was a reasonable size with a good shower over bath. Having been before I knew that you had to run the bath taps a short while before switching the shower on! A good base for the area for touring or as with us whilst walking Pennine Way or Hadrian's Wall.

Bush Nook Guest House replied: Glad your return to Bush Nook was as positive as the first. Happy to have been of help, we do hope the support we provide is reflective of our overall concern for our guest and seen a good value for money. Hope fully see you in the future. Malcolm
