Warm, comfortable and Inviting

Frontlawnem, East Midlands, United Kingdom
Quiet location alongside a river above Haltwhistle. About 45 mins walk up to Hadrian's wall along a very pretty riverside walk. Anne & Martin very welcoming hosts. Breakfast more than ample! Tons of information and maps on what to do

Wonderful hosts, rooms and food

Morten S,
As part of our walking tour along Hadrian`s wall we stayed with Anne and Martin for one night. Impeccable service, great food and room - way above your typical B&B standard. Like a cosy boutique hotel! I can fully recommend the beef casserole, should it be on the meny! Breakfast was perfect as well. The owners are the most charming people you would want to meet, and as foreigners it was a treat to talk to the natives about the area and it`s history. Highly recommended!

Broomshaw Hill Farm replied: Thank you Morten for taking the time to write such a complimentary review about your brief stay with us. It was a treat to meet and talk to you both too and we were pleased that Jan was enjoying his return to Hadrian's Wall and birthday walking. Your comments about the high standard of our accommodation and meals are much appreciated. We were pleased to offer you a comfortable and satisfying night's rest on your travels and hope very much to see you again sometime. Best wishes, Anne and Martin

Lovely B & B

We had a very warm welcome from the owners, Anne and Martin. A lovely house and surroundings plus a super breakfast. The bedroom was very clean and well equipped, with a great view. Thoroughly recommended.

Broomshaw Hill Farm replied: Thank you Graeme for your positive and thoughtful recommendation. We are delighted you enjoyed your brief stay with us on your walking trip and that you appreciated the house and its lovely setting as well as finding everything comfortable and to your liking. Enjoy your next Northumbrian trip to Kielder in September. Best wishes, Anne and Martin

Exceptional B&B

Fairlin, Victoria, BC, Canada
We had a wonderful 3 night stay at this lovely B&B, located in a beautiful rural spot, an easy 20 minute walk from Haltwhistle. Anne & Martin are excellent hosts, friendly & welcoming, greeting one with offers of tea & homemade treats upon arrival, as well as at the end of a day exploring Hadrian country. They are a wealth of information- thanks to their advice we ended up seeing far more of the beautiful countryside than we would have otherwise. Our double ensuite room was perfect - very attractively decorated, quiet, impeccably clean & fresh and a super comfortable bed! No detail overlooked, it was well supplied with toiletries, a tea tray, bedside lights, hooks on the doors, maps & guides. Breakfast was delicious- the best porridge I've ever had! Along with cereal, granola, muesli, fresh fruit, yogurt & homemade bread, we were offered eggs, bacon & sausages. Very good coffee, too! Anne will also make up packed lunches, which were not only convenient but generous - sandwich rolls, crisps, baked goods, fruit, chocolate & water - all at a very reasonable price. For dinner we highly recommend eating at the Milecastle Inn, located a short walk from Broomshaw along a lovely pathway. We had two excellent meals in this charming old pub. The Black Bull in Haltwhistle is also worth a visit. For those planning to visit the Roman forts in the area, or to walk along Hadrian's wall, this B&B makes a very good base. For those on foot, as we were, the AD122 bus service, which one can catch in either Haltwhistle or at the Milecastle Inn, is excellent. It goes to all the major sites, including Vindolanda, Housesteads & Chesters Roman Fort. One can quite easily walk to the wall itself from Broomshaw, through farms dotted with sheep & cows. We will certainly return one day to this beautiful part of England, if only to be able to stay again at Broomshaw Hill Farm!

Broomshaw Hill Farm replied: An exceptional review Carol! Not only are we delighted by your comments about your stay with us, but anyone reading the review is provided with such positive, enthusiastic detail about the area and what to expect. Thank you for going to such trouble and for being so appreciative of what we try to provide for our visitors here. We so enjoyed having you both to stay and hearing how much you were enjoying this lovely area. We hope that you had a lovely few days in Edinburgh after you left us too. Thanks again for choosing Broomshaw. Best wishes, Anne and Martin

Lovely farmohouse and gracious hosts

Amita D, Nottingham, United Kingdom
We had a very nice if brief stay. Anne was a gracious and friendly host who gave lots of helpful information. Accommodation was faultless. It was a restful break on the way to Scotland in lovely Northumbria.

Broomshaw Hill Farm replied: Thank you Amita. We are delighted your change of route on your way to Scotland to see Hadrian's Wall Country was a success and that Broomshaw provided all that you hoped for. We enjoyed meeting you all and hearing about your holiday plans. Thank you again for choosing Broomshaw and we hope to see you again on future trips north. Best wishes, Anne and Martin
