LOVELY

john a, Matlock, United Kingdom
We stayed here whilst walking The Wall and were grateful to get there after a very wet and soggy day. We were given a warm and friendly welcome, even though we were dripping on the floor. Newspaper appeared to stuff our soggy boots and we were directed to our warm, bright room with everything we could of needed. A brew before our lovely warm powerful shower. Hair drier on hand as well as an extra heater to dry our clothes. We could of had a meal, but we had already booked at The Samson Inn, the was also bottled beer if needed. We had a lovely comfy deep sleep in the biggest bed we have ever slept in. A big lovely filling breakfast which set us up for the ordeal ahead. Lovely place.

Brookside Villa B&B replied: Thanks for your "lovely" review! You seem to appreciate everything we deem important too - dealing efficiently with the wet stuff, quickly getting you warm and comfortable, a great, hot shower and a BIG comfortable bed! Shame you'd already booked to go out to dinner - could have saved you a further wet walk there - but I know our local pub is good too! Thanks again, Denise, Gerry and the Team

A Roman Centurian

jug7017, Gisborne Region, New Zealand
We stayed here on our walk. Denise runs her B and B with military proficiency. The room was excellent, however a warning about having the salad option as a packed lunch, I ended up with humus all through my back pack.

Brookside Villa B&B replied: Oh dear! I am sorry! We've made and delivered over 250 salad boxes this summer, and this is a first! I can only assume a faulty package that got squished in your pack - so a bit extreme to tell others to avoid the salad! If you'd like to contact me direct, I will reimburse you for any cleaning costs. Apologies, Denise

best walking trip ever

Charles S,
what to say? a Victorian semi on the wall with above average breakfast enjoyed by walkers and cyclists experiencing the best of the wall. we had the walkers package which included packed lunch and dinner. Denise loves to cook. Get there in time to book dinner and relax in the (honesty) bar with a glass or two before serious food. Denise does specials. they are all restaurant standard and avoid the need to find the local scampi in a basket pub. Gerry will drive you out to a fantastic walking starting point where you cam walk back from. Perfect day If you( like us) want a great base for walking the best bits of the wallyou can not do better than this. A perfect spot for food loving walkers

Brookside Villa B&B replied: Thank you so much for your review. Yes, this is a wonderful area for walking, with a variety of landscape, Roman remains and great local produce - which is a delight to cook with. I love to cook, and am so pleased you enjoyed all our efforts Thanks again. Denise, Gerry and the Team

Comfortable & Charming

VirginiaScout, Virginia
I stayed here with a small group of 6 people while we were walking Hadrian's Wall in August. We stayed 4 nights, took a two day break to visit Scotland, and returned for another 3 nights to finish up. Brookside Villas felt very comfortable, and Denise and her staff made every effort to insure our stay was pleasant and enjoyable. The rooms, lounge and breakfast room were all quite comfortable and inviting. An "honor bar" allowed us to enjoy both adult beverages and soft drinks at our leisure, just noting what we'd taken on a form. Breakfasts were large and well cooked. We enjoyed dinner on 4 nights, and twice Denise fixed special meals for us since we were staying multiple nights. She also made dining reservations for us at the local pub/restaurant. Several times she helped us decide on our itinerary for the following day, to include tips for both walking the Wall and sightseeing along the way. She also provides a laundry service, which we used twice. We will certainly stay here again when in the area.

Brookside Villa B&B replied: Really appreciate your detailed review - it was truly a pleasure to have your group stay with us. We would all be thoroughly delighted to see you again sometime! Many thanks again, Denise, Gerry and the Team
