Overview

The Beach House is family run and is praised for its relaxed "home from home" atmosphere, which the owners, Malcolm and Hazel, have striven to create. In its idyllic location, the Beach House is set back about 60metres from one of the most beautiful stretches of heritage coastline that Northumberland has to offer. The golden sands stretch to the neighbouring village of Bamburgh and beyond, where one of the most magnificent castles in England can be explored.

The Beach House has proved over the years to be the place to stay if you love walking. bird watching, photography etc, the list is endless, or just a place to relax and enjoy the magnificent scenery which begins at the Beach House and continues in every direction for miles upon miles of unspoilt coast line and countryside which must be one of the best if not THE best in England.

The lounge, dining room and bar have panoramic views of the Farne Islands, situated 3 miles out to sea. The Farnes are now a nature reserve, home to a large seal colony and many different species of seabirds including puffins, cormorants and oyster catchers. However they will always be famous for their historic past, once being a sanctuary for St Cuthbert, and more recently for the heroic efforts of Grace Darling in her bid to save the survivors from the Forfarshire steamship. With boat trips available from the local harbour hundreds of visitors return year after year to enjoy the many delights to which this group of no fewer than 28 islands have to offer.

Evening meal is offered to groups, the disabled and the elderly who are unable to walk the 5mins into the village centre where there is a good choice of Restaurants.

A file containing the menus of these Restaurants is available in the Beach House Lobby.

Our staff are very approachable and will see to all your needs, making your stay relaxing & enjoyable.

Enjoy the freedom and space this County has to offer and leave all those worries and stresses behind. Simple.

Disabled friendly

Christine T, Alnwick, United Kingdom
We travel a lot with two disabled gentlemen, one is confined to a wheelchair with cerebral palsy, booking accommodation can be very risky as when you ask for a disabled room it usually just means they have installed a grab rail in the bathroom, and as you know there are different degrees of disability and needs. The beech house hotel have gone the extra mile, they have a wonderful lift to access the 5 steps into the hotel, then the room we had had extra wide doors for a wheelchair, the room was so spacious and had a double bed and an electric bed to lift up and recline with hand control, lots of space to manoeuvre the wheelchair. The bathroom was the best we've ever seen, full access wet room shower, high disabled toilet, grab rails everywhere and so big and easy for a wheelchair user and attendant. The breakfasts at the hotel are superb and well cooked and presented, we couldn't of asked for more and the owner and staff were so helpful and went the extra mile to ensure our stay was memorable. I would deffinately reccomend this hotel to anyone and especially disabled guests.

A happy one night stay.

tnkcdr, Windermere, United Kingdom
We fancied a night away near a beach somewhere and discovered this no frills no nonsense hotel. The welcome from Malcolm was very nice and we were made to feel at home. The only thing I could fault was the size of the room, it was very small, however it had a bed, a bathroom, and a lovely view of the Farne Islands. We had a good nights sleep and woke to lovely clear weather and the sound of the surf. Breakfast was very good and I would recommend the full English, I was not hungry until many hours later. The lady who served us was lovely.

Rising damp and noisy toilet

Chantal C, leicester
I stayed at this hotel in May 2016 for 2 nights. The room I had was a single room on the ground floor with a window overlooking the car park at the side. The bed was comfortable but the room was very basic. Behind the entrance door, the plaster on the wall was wet and falling off. I took photographs and sent them to the owner advising them that it was not healthy to sleep in a bedroom with an obvious damp problem. I also advised them that several times a night I was woken up by the strange noises that the toilet made. I did not even receive an apology. I was with a group of friends and we found one of the waitresses to be quite rude to one of us. The waitress thought it was funny. We hadn't booked into fawlty towers but it felt like we had. Overall, this could be an ok place to stay if it's just for one or two nights, but wouldn't recommend any longer. Things may have changed for the better but with the owner ignoring my emails I wouldn't know
