Check-in for night(s)

Alnwick Lodge enjoys a picturesque setting close to the A1 trunk road. The Lodge and surrounding grounds has been home to Peter Smith since 1976, joined by Evelyn in 1994. During this period West Cawledge Park has been tastefully transformed from a dilapidated Northumbrian Farmstead to provide Alnwick Lodge.

Fifteen well equipped guest bedrooms all with en-suite facilities, individually decorated and furnished to the highest standard ranging from singles, doubles, twins, family, to a magestic Four Poster bedroom.

The antiques in the bedrooms are all for sale. Locally sourced produce including fresh fruits from the orchard feature in the splendid breakfast, packed lunches and evening meals are available if ordered in advance. Children and dogs are welcome.

The Lodge offers superb accommodation for private guests, corporate events, film crews and wedding parties, a unique location to host house parties tailored to your own requirements. Four public rooms set around the floral courtyard.

Lonely Planet recommended.

Antique Galleries, log fires, glamping and camping with ample parking.

A quirky and fun place to stay

Barnstones, Fleet, United Kingdom
Stopped here on way north and this is not your normal B&B. First impressions were that the outside area looked a bit scruffy (there is some fabrication, wood-work shop type of thing there) but enter in the courtyard it is a different place. We were shown our rooms and welcomed with a pot of tea in the main living room. The bedrooms seemed to have been created out of original animal out-buildings, there was a little reading area at the front (on to the courtyard) and then you could pull a heavy curtain to close off the bedroom further back. Furnishings and fittings were a bit eclectic. Breakfast was held in the converted stables and there were 3 very big tables which guests shared. Food was good with usual cereals, fruit and cooked breakfast available. Only downside is that it is a bit outside of Alnwick and not really walkable along a very busy road so someone has to drive when you go for an evening meal.

Quirky Heaven

Colin B, Rotherham
We were given a wonderfully friendly welcome from the owners and their chickens.- Fresh and very free-range eggs in the morning! The room was comfortable and full of character with extra little touches like fresh flowers in a vase, a free-standing enamel bath and delightfully quirky decoration which added a sense of fun to our stay. The excellent candle-lit breakfast in the stables was plentiful with real home-made bread baked each day. The large circular tables allowed us to meet other guests and chat. The owners were very willing to help with anything, including information on local attractions and places to eat.

I wish we could stay here more often!

Alnwick Lodge is not for everyone, because it's a bit quirky. But we really like it and would certainly stay more often if we came to the area more frequently. Each room is different, and by different, I mean really different. Salvaged and found furniture, objects and fittings give a unique caracter to each room. Everywhere is festooned with antiques and interesting objects. The staff members are brilliant: friendly helpful and obliging, and the food is great. The main reception room with its ingle nook fireplace is charming, and the dining area (used for breakfast and dinner) features round tables located in stable stalls, for communal meals during which conversation flows freely. It's an excellent, exceptional value place to stay as long as you are happy with sometwhere a bit different to conventional B&Bs or hotels. We have no criticisms whatsoever. It's a particularly good place to stay if you're travelling to or from Scotland, visitng Alnwick Castle or exploring Northumberland, and there are plenty of interesting attractions in the area.

50th party

Rachel C,
Lovely unique quirky house set in countryside! Friendly owners happy to help if you needed it! Plenty of room for many guests to mill around, great little courtyard for people to sit outside aswell, this was quite a different venue for a party really nice !

A bit of adventure with a delicious breakfast

J G,
We ended pat the Alnwick Lodge after a problem with a reservation elsewhere. When we were told we couldn't stay where we had booked we were told the Lodge had a "glamping" spot available. With two young children we were intrigued and it was really our only option so off we went. By the time we got there it was late but the owner was there to greet us and show us around. Our little camper was enough room for our family of four (one child in the bunk above and the other in a playpen) and the bed was fine enough for a night. When we woke up we were greeted by some chickens (the kids loved it) and were quite taken by the charm of the main lodge. I had the best coffee of the trip and the breakfast was truly wonderful. We almost considered staying another night, but we wanted to move on to a different part of the country. The staff are very friendly, the outdoor shower for the glamping spots was nice and hot. Plus - it was a really fun part of the trip for the kids, something so different from the Inns and hotels we stayed at.
