A perfect afternoon adventure
geedee5, Craster, United Kingdom
We are a retired but active couple who were given a voucher for an activity with this company. Were we up for an adventure? You bet! We really enjoyed our afternoon spent kayaking up and down the river at beautiful Warkworth. Lovely views of the castle and in the tree-lined quieter stretches there were birds such as dipper, grey wagtail and kingfisher to spot. Paul, our instructor was extremely helpful and we felt in very safe hands. If you are wondering if this is for you, we would say yes as long as you feel able to hold a paddle for a couple of hours. It is not hard work to paddle and in many sections the river carries you along. Wetsuits are provided as well as buoyancy aids. The kayaks seat 3 but can be operated by 2 easily. Families would love it as there is lots to see and it is easy to learn how to steer etc. All in all a fun activity for all ages.
Fantastic Stag Party event
DJBobHoskins, London, United Kingdom
Situated in a beautiful part of the UK, this was an activity on the 'to do' list for a Stag Party I recently attended. The instructors were very helpful and knew the coastline like the back of their hand. After the initial safety intro we were all lead across rocky terrain to the water's edge before all 10 of us jumped into the freezing North Sea - a hangover cure if ever there was one! Once our bodies had adjusted to the temperature we found ourselves clambering around the stoney shore, back and forth into the crystal clear waters. Despite the bracing climate the surroundings were breathtaking and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The climax of the 2hr trail culminated into a giant leap from a 40ft cliff into the sea below. Most of our party managed to brave the daredevil feat but the instructors didn't pressure anyone into something they couldn't/didn't want to do. I, for one, jumped from a slightly less macho height of 25ft but it was still an achievement for someone who has a problem with heights. We really got on well with the two instructors (Alvin and Lee) and they offered some insight into the local area which went down very well with those of us in search of the hair of the dog, although the coasteering obliterated any side effects from the night before! All in all, a very professional and friendly experience was provided and the Stag was in his element. I'd highly recommend this event for anyone who fancies a challenge as well as building on new friendships within a group.
Coasteering with young kids
We tried coasteering for the first time, dad/uncle with 4 kids aged 12, 11, 9 and 9. All the kids thought it was amongst the best things they'd ever done and dad enjoyed it too. Our guides, Paul and Alvin, did a great job and let the kids try challenging jumps from the dramatic rock formations around this part of the beautiful Northumberland coastline. In this day and age it's great to do something like this that challenged us all whilst not being limited by health and safety red tape. I'd suggest that younger kids (ours were 9) need to be reasonably confident swimmers to enjoy it to the full.
Kayaking around the coast
Great morning Kayak adventure. 19-July-16, my wife organised a 15th Anniversary treat, Guided double Kayaking around the coast from Craster Harbour to Embleton bay with our guide Michael, a very professional and friendly chap who, after going through the short training, imparted snippets of local knowledge along the way. Luckily the weather was sunny and calm so absolutely gorgeous scenery. Quick stretch of the legs and then the return journey. Pack away and then finally thank Michael for his excellent guidance on our mini adventure.
Brilliant fun with a very professional company.
Aimi D, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
This was our first time coasteering - 2 adults and 4 children aged 12 & 13 - and it is one of the best family activities we have done. It's quite demanding and you need to be confident in the sea but it's totally exhilarating. Our guide Michael was brilliant and we felt in very safe hands, at no point did we feel in danger. Michael was great at gently encouraging the less confident in our group to climb, jump and swim as we'd never done before and also incorporated lots of fun games for the children. I think it's unfair people have given terribly reviews based on cancellations - this company only cancel when the conditions are not safe for the activities. They are totally professional and rely heavily on the right conditions. We will definitely book with this company again.
